A Big Congrats to the OFF Team from the BDG

buddye, pls find some time to play this fine game and start a new career of your pilot in OFF3. It is not too difficult to get on. But you'll realize exactly how the SPC should be done in BoB2 and derivatives. It is the very best single pilot career system and nothing comes near in combination of history and your unique pilot character in it. I'd add it makes up for what is still lacking (single character story) in BoB2. :)

As Artie Johnson's famous German soldier used to say, "Veeerrrrryyyyy interesting!" and only twenty bucks! This might have been the sim that I saw screenshots of and mistook it for modded IL2 1946 (which I ordered the other day BTW). I will most definitely check it out.

What exactly is Battle of Britain II, what do you need to play it and where can you get it?

It would not be responsible for me to not answer this question.

What do you need to play BOBII?

BOBII Performance

BoB II WoV is a vastly improved remake of Rowans' BoB. Furthermore it is still being developed by the BDG; a volunteer force of enthusiasts. Better aircraft models, better flight models and a lot of improvements in code. Highly recommended if you have a powerful single core or a dual core rig.

BOBII is a very demanding Combat Flight Simulator as well as a BOB Strategy Commander and Single Player Campaign. It takes a good PC to run BOBII effectively (good processor and video card) and a good gamer PC to run BOBII at full settings.

BobII does require a Directx 9c compliant external video card to run. We have had almost no success getting on-board video to run BOBII and we do not recommend even trying it.

Please ask about your PC if you have any doubts about your PC running BOBII. We do not want unsatisfied players.

BTW, here is the link I posted at the BOBII froum about OFF3:

Lovely to see two CLASSIC developers shaking hands over Flightsims!

Nice gesture Buddeye!....... A refreshing change, and glad you are enjoying OFF...It's great!

(BTW... I have got BoBII...and although I like it...is there anyway of turning off those bloody Roundels and Black Crosses in the combat?)

For me, they just take away the feel! (though I can't believe how many aircraft are in the air at once!..very exciting Dogfighting!!!)

I am the same in OFF...all i want is my wits and my map!...Combat aids?...yukkio!!!

Yes, the large 200+ A/C battles will make you sweat some.

Here is the setting you need:

Options->Sim->View
Set Peripheral Vision = OFF

The young RAF fighter pilot must have had an major pucker factor when he looked at enemy formation.
Significant fear and worry about his own life. They were outnumbered alot of the time.

Great..thanks for that!

Yes, it must have been quite terrifying at times! (Though they were fighting over their own turf).... I have to say, I don't envy an HE111 pilot with a Spitfire or Hurricane on his tail either!:ernae:

I guess I have duel citizenship with BOB II and OFF, Buddye has always been a class act and the person that drew me into commenting in these forums now and again.

Happy to see some cross cultural input between these two fine communities!
