I still have fond memories of the airfix kit.
Who else built this one?

Yeah I did too many years ago, it was a great kit that! Mine never looked as good as yours does above though lol!

Mine was Mongram 1/48th scale and came with two paint schemes that one and Nine-O-Nine I chose the OD/grey Nine-O-Nine because then like now I couldn't paint a straight line to save my soul.
Even with tape.
LOL!

Looks great!

I wonder if Airfix had to pay royalties to Milton Caniff and/or his estate. Unusual to have a signed piece of nose art...

EDIT: Speaking of which - are you planning to have your repaint carry the signature? Or maybe you have already - it's hard to tell from the angle of the screenshot. I'm sure you've seen it already, but there's good reference here.

Whether or not, am looking forward to the release.

I built the Airfix kit no less than 3 times. Only once did it get the Bit O Lace decals though. Thinking your paint will fly over southern Nevada soon! Beautiful work sir.

signature? but of course:

I'm not happy with that old wingtip, so I may start anew on it..

For the rest, it's going the right direction don't you agree?

I did the Revell kits in 1/72 when I was younger, and just recently completed the 1/48, F model, finished as Memphis Belle. Kit was a redo of a form from the late 50ies, so I had to do a lot on the interiour myself... Built the Navigators deck, radio room, some ammo crates and oxygen bottles out of wood and cardboard, and a bit of melted and reshaped plastic.

Stunning repaint there, weather and wearing effects look great! Ah, I´d love that darn Accusim B-17....

Better?

Jan, it is hard to improve on perfection but you seem to be able to do that. Looking forward to another great paint!!!
