Thank you for the intro movie. It sets the stage for Rising Sun perfectly. Folks if you haven't watched the intro movie at least once give it go.

PTO RS Startup Problem

HELP! PTO RS crashes to desktop when I press "FLY". I tried Pearl five times and Midway once and the game always crashes to desktop. Should I UNINSTALL PTO RS and try to INSTALL it again?

Before you start try using the RS BDP Zapper before. I had the same problem with all the scenarios and the most work, but not yet tested it with Pearl Harbor.

Renereimann,

I have no idea what happened. As I have stressed, follow ALL installation instructions EXACTLY.

The easiest thing I know to do right now is this:

1. A fully-updated vanilla CFS3 has to be in C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games. It has to
have been flown at least once. If it had flown in another location, that counts.
2. Then install CFS3 PTO Rising Sun Part 1 to the default C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games
location. It is a two-step installer.
3. If you want RS to be in another location, simply move it to that new location now.
4. If you have copied your vaniila CFS3 from somewhere else to C:\Program Files\Microsoft
Games, please remove it now.
5. Now you can finish installing PTO RS to the new location, starting with Part 2 and
finishing with Part 7. After Part 7 is finished running you will be asked if you want to
run the BDP Zapper, ZX Zapper, and Multicfs3.exe.
Say yes to all three.
When the Multicfs3.exe runs, type in: CFS3 PTO Rising Sun. When you click Accept, it will
automatically fill the rest of the line with underscores.
If Multicfs3.exe does not run, go into the CFS3 PTO Rising Sun main game folder and run it
from there.
After this, you will need to run the cfs3config.exe from inside the PTO RS main game
folder.
Also, you will need to start CFS3 PTO Rising Sun from INSIDE the CFS3 PTO Rising Sun main
game folder as well, fly it once, and then shut down.

NOTE: DO NOT RUN THE DESKTOP SHORT CUTS OR Rising_Sun_Theater_Selector.bat UNTIL
CFS3_PTO_Rising Sun_Uisel.EXE HAS BEEN INSTALLED AND SET-UP.
Also, DO NOT START THE GAME AGAIN UNTIL THE CFS3_PTO_Rising_Sun_Uisel.EXE HAS BEEN RUN AND
UISEL SELECTORS EDITED.
8. Now run the CFS3_PTO_Rising_Sun_Uisel-Installer_part-8.exe and aim it at your
Application Data folder, to inside the newly-created CFS3 PTO Rising Sun________ folder.
9. Now go into the main game folder and look for the Rising_Sun_Theater_Selector.bat file.
Right-click on it, select properties, and make sure the Read Only box is UNCHECKED.
If you had to change it, click Apply and then OK, otherwise just click OK.
Right-click on it again and select Edit.
Seven times down though that document, you will see CD "C:\Documents and
Settings\Administrator\Application Data\Microsoft\CFS3 PTO Rising Sun______".
If your RS Application Data folder is in another location than the one listed, you will
have to change it now, in all 7 instances.
Do that, then save it.
Right-click an then check Read Only again, Apply and OK.
10. If you main game folder is located anywhere other than C:\Program File\Microsoft
Games, go into the Application Data folder for CFS3 PTO Rising Sun________.
You will now see seven (7) 2*_uisel.bat files.
You will need to do a similar edit on each one, the same way you just did to the above to
the Rising_Sun_Theater_Selector.bat file above.
Scroll to the bottom of each of the seven (7) batch files, and you will see this: CD
"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\CFS3 PTO Rising Sun"
Simply change the location to where your PTO RS main game folder now lies.
That should do it.

I hope this helps.

Thanks to all who have contributed to PTO.

I can imagine what a gigantic task it has been!

PTO RS Startup Problem #2

Grizzly50:Thank you for your help. Unfortunately I have made things worse. I deleted PTO RS and reinstalled, trying to follow your instructions. The game will not Start Up. My Application Data Folder is normally located in my HP_Owner Folder. There is also an Application Data Folder in my Administrator Folder.I used "Internet Download Manager" to download PTO RS. Should I delete/Uninstall PTO RS and try again? Thank You in advance.

Renereimann,

You have an AppData folder in Administrator because you didn't aim the CFS3_PTO_Rising_Sun_Uisel-Installer_part-8.exe installer to the proper location.

If you ran the MultiCFS3.exe properly at the end of installation of PTO RS, the there should have been a CFS3 PTO Rising Sun________ folder in the same folder where your Combat Flight Simulator 3.0 AppData folder is located.

Delete the one you have in Administrator and reinstall into the CFS3 PTO Rising Sun________ folder.

All you have to do is go into the CFS3 PTO Rising Sun________ folder and copy the address from the address bar into the Part 8 installer during installation.

Grizzly50: I deleted everything and started over. I installed Parts 1-7 then ran MultiCFS3.exe, BDP Zapper and ZX Zapper. The AppData is in the correct location. Then I tried to start CFS3 PTO Rising Sun from INSIDE the CFS3 PTO RS main game folder. The game will not start. The "CFS3 Battle For Europe" Splash Screen appears for 10-20 seconds then disappears. I tried to start by clicking CFS3.exe several times with no luck. Do you know how to fix this?

What do you mean by "start CFS3 PTO Rising Sun from INSIDE the CFS3 PTO RS main game folder"? You should run CFS3.EXE within that folder.

And you shouldn't see the "CFS3 Battle For Europe" Splash Screen, but the one for Pearl....

Code:
I have n't loaded it but will so over time; on the subject of campaigns and total development work load, my mind boggles at the comlexity of the software (that might be) and how the thing even works; without having looked into it. I can only imagine the develpment task as staggering; and say a private "thankyou" to these people every time I run CFS3 or any version.

So a big THANKYOU from me; never any negatives: I can only guess at what the team has to go through to produce this fine gear.

The whole thing, and the Historical aspects will make a fitting memorial to those in the Conflict; which should last indefinitely beyond our life times, when the last Aluminium has long left the ground!

From an admirer of the work...

THANK YOU Grizzly50!

The forth try was the charm! I have an older computer so I used Internet Download Manager to download CFS3 PTO Rising Sun. I probably did not install Part 1 correctly. Thank you Grizzly50 for all your help! Thanks to all who worked on this!
