A "challenge"? More like, "they" are too cheap to pay someone to design a scheme to represent them in the races.

Oh c'mon oleboy, where is your spirit? Thom is hardly lacking the dough to find someone else to design the scheme... This is a bonding between the Precious Metal team, and all of air racing. On top of that , PM received the most publicity, and photos last year, and with improved modifications this year, will be attempting to take home the GOLD.

I'm not on the team, I just stood beside her in a hanger here in Lake PLacid before Thom bought her.
I just feel a bond that I can't describe.
 
Keeps the exhaust valves from warping when the cold air hits them after it's shut down. I ran into this on a drag car.
