A couple of problems

Fibber:
Oh yes, re: 88 stuff.
I think I looked at the Mission Builder tutorial several years ago. Maybe this is a different site. Will explore. But my question remains: can one view a list of objects that a specific airbase requires via MB? Can one then just pencil them down and then check the installed objects to look for ones that are missing? If so, that would seem to be the best way to look behind the curtain of obscure Scenery missing errors that list untranslatable references.

Mission Builder can be used to edit the Global Scenery Layer (GSL folder/cfs2.gsl) It looks like the GSL code objects by name (inf_barracksc, inf_water_towera, inf_tents_round, etc)

I'm 99% sure that Scenery library object not found is from a BGL. Your looking for somthing placed by a BGL that can NOT be destroyed.

What I can try to do is. Can you give me the whole list of numbers (Ox00000013, Ox4c65726f .etc.). I should be able to make a bgl that will use the ID numbers you gave me that will get rid of of the error.

Hi Archive1,

Take a look inside the "Texture" folder of the Kerch airstrip. The one that is activated in the "Add Scenery" setting.

If there are textures for buildings or vehicles, then the Kerch.bgl is probably calling for scenery objects that are api macros. (non-destroyable)
Many of the older scenery's have these.
Without knowing what the author had installed in his CFS2 or a list of them in the readme, there is no real way of knowing what to search for to eliminate your objects not found errors.

Api Macros were very common before objects were designed specifically for CFS2. (destroyable)

Here are the scenery numbers, some seem common to several airbases in both Kuban and Finlands Wars (makes sense):
Ox00000011, Ox00000012, Ox00000013, Ox00000019, Ox00000020, Ox4C65726F

Dvslats:
Can’t open the SCENEDB/Scenery for Kerch (or any airbase) with the programs that seem available…even tried PhotoShop.
Thanks all,

..relooking at those numbers...They look like MS error numbers. Some of them look like the ones I was getting when I "upgraded" Norton to 2015 from 2014. What a PITA that was!

Archive1,

No, you're on the right track if you're getting the error numbers you describe. They trace back to missing elements in the GSL file, I think, but I am still working out what the specific errors are.

For what it is worth, I have had similar problems in the Leningrad missions when they loaded up. Never went back yet to see what I could find. Just told me there were missing scenery elements such as buildings and gave me a bunch of numbers and letters; i.e. 1b.Ox00000020,Ox4C65786F,Ox09000001, etc. Not sure if the beginning character is Zero or letter o.
I can fly the mission O.K.

All: Still get the numbers with occasional airbases, but...

I mentioned that I was proceeding with installing upgrades to the Eastern Theater. Have done older files of Winter War, Kursk, Kuban and newer Fall Weiss, Deep War and started on Continuation War. Things seemed fine; a few missing items/objects, perhaps, maybe some wrong airbase identifiers (when corrected all OK), but Advanced Info worked well when tested for each mission, etc. But then I edited the QC file to include only aircraft that I knew were ‘active’ in the free flight and for the missions (as I have done many times for other theaters of op without problems) and this time things went sideways.

QC is not loading. When it is selected, the “Free Flight” aircraft load instead not just the few I included in QC. When Fly Now is selected for QC I also get the dreaded “Failed to initialize the DB… database corrupted…Generated QC mission failed” error messages.

When I try a mission and click on Advan Info I get “Aircraft not found in object database”, although I know the mission aircraft are present and will fly in free flight. And, of course Advanced Info fails to work.

I have checked the Info/airbase.dat file – Master airbase.dat being used. Have gone over the QC file multiple times for errors of spelling, spacing, formatting – can find none. Have carefully compared it with others including original Pac version. Everything was going quite perfectly – now this. Am at a loss.

Can upload QC in Word file if it will help. Or is it just bad Karma? Time to take up bowling?

One other query: why in some missions at some airbases do following aircraft in the flight crash and burn on takeoff ? Read a reason once, but forget the answer. Have noticed this in the Leningrad campaign.

Guys,

I made a list of answers to these problems, but I am battling a cold. I will answer this in the morning. Thanks for being patient, I'm going to go to bed to try and sleep this off.

Hey guys,

I'd be willing to bet that there are multiple screw-ups here.

You are working through the Finnish and Leningrad campaigns, correct? I will run through these and see what needs fixing. I will not alter the missions themselves, because to do so would detract from what I am currently slaving over to complete on time with the "gang of five." So, these will be quick-and-dirty fixes.

Stay tuned...

You are exactly correct. Guys, don't spend more time on this. I think some arthritic fingers made some bad moves and lots of stuff was trashed...not just the QC. I'm going to start over with an archived version, tip-toe my way forward and test often as I go. Sorry for the queries. I'll get back after getting some personal stuff done and have had a chance to poke into the future.
Always appreciate the responses.
