A day in the life of Rami...

Good morning,

Well...survived the latest storm which was initially supposed to "miss" us with another 10+ inches of snow, and more snow set to roll in tomorrow morning. "Only" 3-6 more inches, but it just adds to the problem. Boston has had eighty-five inches of snow in about three weeks.

Oh yeah...another storm set to come in on Sunday, but a "warmer" storm with heavier snow and a potential for mixing and rain. :p87:

We here in the Yorktown, Virginia area are expecting 8 - 12 inches of snow and ice tonight. It's not much for some regions, but for here, that is significant.

Like a bad B movie

Well lets call it the Blizzard that wasn't. Downeast Maine was pounded but here at my house we had only 8".

Man Rams,
You guys have been through the proverbial grinder!

You, your wife, and kiddos deserve to come down and visit. We have the room.

70 degrees sipping Chardonnay on the back patio a few minutes ago.

Getting ready to grill some tenderloin for dinner in a couple of hours from now.

Breeze is off the Atlantic is nice, sun is warm, though we might start a log or two in the fire pit this evening.

Jodi says "Hi, come on down. We'll go to the beach."

SW07,

I bet. Don't go skidding around in that Beemer of yours. Glad you're okay, though. :

Thanks, I brushed off a small area, allowing me to open the front, storm door - giving me another exit if I need it. I brushed it off with a broom. Having had a coronary tripple bypass, I'm not gonna touch a shovel. Instead, I'll pay the neighborhood kids to do the shoveling. I ain't goin anywhere today and apparently none of my neighbors are ether. Not a motor can be heard. I hope the roads are clear enough tomorrow to allow me to have my medical appointment. I'll know in the morning after tonight's refreeze.

Friends,

the images shown on our tv of Boston and New York are scaring, both cities look like McMurdo Bay scientific base in Antarctica. Or scenes from one of those catastrophic flicks.

How are you all doing? Is there an end in sight? How do meteorologists explain and justify this US winter madness?

With sympathy,
KH

We are still having some problems with the ice melting dueing the day and refreezing on the roads at night. We wo't get any thaw today because the temperature isn't supposed to rise above 22*F (-5.5*C) - very cold for this region. My dront door is still partially blocked by a 2.5 ft snowdrift. I can't move it though because of my heart condition and bad back. It sits in the shade where no sunlight can hit it and cause melting.

This is a good time to get back into CFS2 :wiggle:

SW,

Man you're having a heat wave. It hasn't been above 20 deg F since early Jan. Its been 0 deg F or below every morning. So I feel your pain.

My son and I just shoveled off part of the roof. had about 3' in the corner that had to go. I have Ice dams at the end of the roof that are about 8" thick. Thank God this is a cape with a steep pitch. Other wise we'd have trouble.

Rami,

My folk went down to Boston on Sunday. Don't your plow drivers know how to plow. :biggrin-new: They said that its a real mess. Accidents everywhere on I-95 and I-90. My dad said it was easier to get into Boston on the Mass pike. Stay safe down there.
