i kind of take offence to that...allen mispley has built many very good engines for many years,including several indy 500 winning engines,just because one of his engines had a problem last sunday is not a reason to make a claim he cant build a good engine.. **** deleted by me (PRB) ****

Gibbs engines have been good - no argument there. However this weekend they were sloppy. Kyle did not lose one engine this last weekend - he lost two. He started the race with a backup engine since somebody left the rocker arms loose on his primary engine and it blew up in practice. Kyle said this on the pre-race show. Then his second engine blew up during the race and he didn't know why but that it was internal. yes a driver can lose one engine on a weekend but how often do you lose two? Somebody didn't do their job in at least one of these cases.

Should be an interesting race at Homestead this coming weekend.

More on Gibbs...
One thing that I have heard more than once about the Gibbs drivers. Both Denny and Joey are highly dependent upon hearing the feedback Kyle gives his CC. Neither is comfortable communicating what the car is doing and how to "fix it" to their CCs. This was clearly evident last year when Kyle and Denny had no clue Phoenix was a fuel mile race and then Denny had no clue what set-up to use at Homestead - they went with Kyles. With Kyle off for the week before last none of the Gibbs cars performed as nobody apparently knew how to communicate the essence of what the cars were doing to the CCs. For an organization like Gibbs to have 3 young drivers I think is a huge mistake - somebody has to know how to communicate - they do at Hendrick and Childress and did when Martin was at Roush. A definite tactical error.

and to that end...i think the gibbs camp made a mistake with the mark martin situation myself,,,if i was JD gibbs i would have done what it takes (took? lol) to put martin in a 4th car or in the 20 and let lagano ride in nationwide a year or two,let martin learn bush and hamlin on some "real" teamwork and communication.
