I would install it to: C:\FSX SDK

On my system I have FSX at: X:\FSX
and the SDK at: X:\FSX SDK

Easy to remember and to 'point to' when applications want to know where the various tools in the SDK are located.

Yup.. I don't think it matters where it goes. I have FSX on F:\ and the SDK on F:\SDK. The only place I wouldn't put it is Program Files (x86) where it falls under the evil hand of the UAC:encouragement:

Trust me on this point, use the shortest path possible. Depending on what parts of the SDK you wind up using, you do not want to be forced to type some obscenely long path over and over again... :very_drunk:

OK guys, thanks for the answers, that clears things up,so either C:\SDK,or C:\Flight simulator X\SDK it is then,is there any back up I should do before installing this?

No, I don't think so. I don't have the Gold Edition but I'd imagine installing it's SDK is more straight forward than for Deluxe where you install that SDK, then the SP1 SDK followed by the ACC SDK:dizzy: It will write entries to your dll.xml but they won't become active until you manually add the path/s (eg, it adds the SDK components but not the paths.. you fill in the spaces);)
