A little help w/ Torps...

Hey y'all...

Somewhere along the way, I have lost my torp explosions.

I'm using Nanni's and Ghost Pony's water explosions and torp explosions, ...and DB's U.S. torps and Thicko's B5N IJN torp.

All I get's a "pop", ...no fountain or rings.

Thanks in advance.

I lost bullet and cannon ground effect ,,, and all I did was open the effects file to comfirm they were still there ,, and sure enough they were ,, no gremlins got em ,,, funny thing is then they showed uo in game ,, Came away thinking XP just by passed the complete folder some how ,,, never happened again --hahhhh so far that is ,,, Try it ,,

Its not the weapons per se that are causing this. The weapons' effects are controlled by the visualfx.dll and damage.dll modules in the MODULES folder. They read the action and deploy the corresponding *.fx files to memory from the EFFECTS folder as the situation dictates. In an XP platform, these modules seem to prefer the stock fx files more for some reason, as addon fx files seem to lose their efficacy during sessions of extended and intensive action -- like lots of bombers blasting an airfield, then you go in with your escorting fighter for strafing runs on surviving objects and find that your bullets are barely kicking dust on impact. Plus, i've even seen this happen after a major fx modification, like when i did the napalm mod. After running a number of explosion tests in FF, the visual effects of my bullet splashes, dirtspray and explosion effects began to diminish. I just shut down the sim and reboot for a quick fix. But if this is happening every time you boot the sim in whatever mode -- FF, QC, missions, or even training -- the best remedy is to temporarily rename your entire EFFECTS folder and copy/paste your original EFFECTS folder from your backup location into the main CFS2 directory. Play a number of sessions with this and see how it goes, then began copy/overwriting the originals with the Nanni mods again. And don't ever delete the original fx files when you want to upgrade them, just overwrite them with the newer.

Thanks BC.

I remember not too long ago there was a "scorched bomb crater on the water" fix for near misses on ships that I applied to fix the odd effect.

I don't remember what the fix was.

Maybe I deleted a file or .bmp that the .dll or .fx file is lookin' for.

Does anybody remember what the fix was?

Thanks.

Found the bomb fix...

It was an altered "fx_3.bmp.

Don't think that would effect the torp hit.

Maybe there's a call for a .bmp that doesn't exist in the effect.
