A Lockheed "Rounder"

Thanks guys for the PV-1 interest. As soon as Firekitten wraps up her beautiful textures, I will have a beta package ready to release. I may have thrown a monkey wrench in the pile with the solid nose version but it should map out the same as the glass version. She will likely verify that today.

The glass nose version did not carry under-wing tanks but I added them for the early solid nose version, but still no rockets at that time.

I am swapping the early glass-nose version torpedo for bombs as that would better represent the RAF version.

Tom, I uploaded it yesterday or the day before along with a Panagra and a Panair that I uploaded a week ago. They're in the Warbirds Library here. Going back to our old Combat Flight Center days, anything I do has been pretty much a SOH exclusive to meet a promise I made to an old friend. Although I have been rethinking that for a while now. (not sure if I remember how to upload to FlightSim it's been so long)

The Western paint is basically a semi-educated guess. I've plenty of reference saying Western flew the Lodestars they acquired with the purchase of Inland Airways. But I couldn't find a picture of one. So I used the basic post war bare metal top paint scheme.

I've almost got a fictional Santa Fe Skyways air freighter Lodestar finished (love that paint scheme), basically just need to do one more alpha layer and package it up. And a 1944ish TWA paint is right behind it one I make a few line up adjustments. (TWA just had one Lodestar and never used it as an airliner)

After the TWA one, I'm looking at Pan Am, Pacific Alaska and Alaska Star. And I'd like to do a bare metal BOAC. Plus, I've still got my "Operation Downfall" P-80 project on the backburner.

So many Lockheeds, so little time.....

And one of these days, I'm gonna have to get my head around how to do layers...

Thanks Milton! I had the first and last page on the TWA which I've been using as a reference and with the middle page, I can do it better. I've already used the drawing to create the nose logo and other bits

I've made some improvements since this version.

The Pacific Alaska Airways is on the list. I'd already decided to do a Pan Am and there's very little difference between the two, so why not?

Photo of the TWA. There's some differences in the photo and work order description. This is pretty much the way I've got the paint done now.

I always thought that the solid-nose Ventura was the prettiest one of the bunch - I'm happy to see that one appeared in the end.
SOH has been pumping out stellar releases lately - It's pretty awesome what we've got here: a team-lead and modeller in Milton Shupe and a huge number of talented sound, texture, and other artists to add to the bunch, with manecas, wellis, Firekitten, Tankerguy, Nigel, and so many others involved in the work...

Let's see - what has Team SOH completed? (list based on my memory of events on the forums, including substantial SOH membership contribution and volunteer laborers who did the bulk of the work, as happened with the A-26, but list may be lengthened or shortened based on the recollections of the involved parties - so Milton is hereby invited to edit the post to correct the list for accuracy)
- F7F Tigercats (both V.1 and V.2)
- Lockheed Lodestars
- Lockheed Harpoons
- HMS Bounty (sort of)
- Republic Experimental Fighters (XP-72, XP-47J, XP-47H)
- Fleet 50 (sort of)
- Grumman 7 (S2T, S2F, (E)C-1 in civil, fire, and military flavors) (sort of)
- Howard 500 V.1.5 (NOT including the original V.1 release) (sort of)
- Avia 57
- Avias (51, 56, and 156)
- DH.80 Puss Moth (sort of)
- A-26 Invaders (the original SOH project)
- And, on the FSX side, a Ryan Navion and an unreleased P-61 Black Widow from different SOH teams.

- with Lockheed Venturas and Grumman Mallards coming!

Pretty incredible, isn't it?

This is an awesome place to be, for sure, with all the talent running about. :wiggle: Thanks to all of you who make SOH great!

Here's the basic list I have since 2011. It does not include some of my small collaborations for flight models; may have forgotten some. List does not include a host of AI or MP variants or CFS2 collaborations.

Mr Shupe, are my eyes failing or have you omitted from your list the excellent DH80? My favourite for "low and slow"

LOL No, the list is one I started in 2011 for aircraft from that year forward (since my June '11 retirement) and the DH-80 Puss Moth was released in October 2009.

Nice paint job Willy.:applause:

Looking forward to the TWA as well.

Construction team just finished adding another hangar on the lot, so now I have space for all these beauty's :jump:

Willy,

Two Inland Lodestars (bought in June 1942 from Continental) were transferred to Western on October 7, 1943, even before the merger. I don't know what they used them for, but I assume for their war duties.

The Western download says:

For Milton Shupe & Team's Lockheed Lodestar, 2048x2048 .dds textures for FSX

I was wondering if there was going to be an FS9 (BMPs) version released.

Thanks,

Hi,
I admit I did add a couple of things to a panel and was told off by Milton :a1089:! but this time I behaved and just downloaded and installed the latest version ( ** Full Replacement for all previous Releases, Fixes, and Upgrades as of October 14, 2015 **) and have found the Autopilot strange..in the 2D view none of it's lights come on and in the VC in the upper section above the screen is the Autopilot on which one lights does come when engaged; above that is an altitude setting panel which doesn't seem to do anything and I would appreciate assistance, as usual.
The other thing is, are these beautiful repaints coming along seem to be for FSX only, so I align myself with Tom Gibson and enquire about any FS9 skins coming along.
Andy.

Tom, I haven't been doing FS9 versions simply because my FS9 & GW3 installs quit working and I like to do a visual check on paints before uploading them. I wasn't flying them anyway, so I've just been doing FSX for several months now. However I do include simplified instructions for conversion should anyone want to do so. I really hate to upload something that I haven't checked out.

I probably could do something though but won't be able to say if it works or not.
