A Lockheed "Rounder"

Thanks Milton! Got the base package installed. Looks awesome! Can't unzip the paint kit, however. Downloaded it twice, one had three files in it, the other five, but both returned an error the archive was in "unknown format or damaged".

- Paul
Thanks Milton. Same problem as Paul here on the paint kit.

Grrrrrrr! :)

The archive shows the correct size. I will attempt the downlooad, and re-upload if necessary. Will let you know when that is done.

I downloaded it by logging into the website fine and the file is good. However, in two download attempts using the posted link, it failed.

Matt, only the Paint Kit is affected. Can you post your link for the download?

Okay, Matt says we can use his link:

When you open it, right click on the Externals and select "Download".

Thanks Milton and Matt!

the thanks is all on Milton here for providing such a wonderful aircraft, and for allowing me to work on her by getting a paintkit set up etc....

a few notes about the paintkit;

-FSX Scaled by default (2048*2048) so FS9 users will have to reduce to 1024*1024 before saving
-Baked layers for D, and other variant (with and without wing stores)
-a Metal Effect layer to speed up those bare metal paints you may do (i didn't add panel toning as i feel that comes to taste)
-Kept the Wireframes so you can see where you're painting and what you're painting...
-Alpha channels should be there but dependent on scheme you will have to adjust as necessary

again, thanks to Milton for such a wonderful aircraft :salute:

EDIT: AND of course i'm looking forwards to seeing your work guys!

A question about the texture files. I've noticed that some files have a “-D” companion file. In the case of fuse_t.bmp, it's the “-D” version that maps to the plane, and not fuse_t.bmp itself. I tried renaming my edited file to fuse-D_t.bmp, and it showed up. Is this something that needs fixing or am I missing something trivial? (that happens a lot...)

- Paul

These are Not companion files. There are two -D files for the D model. The fuselage has a front (fuse-D_T) and rear D bmp (fuserear-D_T) as the shape is different.

The PV-2D model only requires these two files. The standard fuse_t and fuserear_t is for the PV-2 model.

I am reposting the Paint Kit download from website. They say the issue should be corrected regarding download interruptions.

Try this and let me know if it completes successfully (85.5 MB):

http://www.flightsimonline.com/downloads/HarpoonPK.zip

I also need a volunteer to paint the Harpoon Fire Tanker. Let me know if you are interested.

We have 7 variants for the PV-2 aircraft and one set of textures for it and one for the PV-2D model.

If you are interested in doing textures for this, the paint kit above has everything and the test models are available from post#979.

Thought I take a spin in the Harpoon in FSX... only lite alpha and prop fix applied. Awesome aircraft Milton, so much like the Howard!!! :applause:
Matt, beautiful paint kit... my hats of to you... stunning!!! :salute:

LOL Did you place everyone by hand???? Amazing!

Wow! With all those rivets, she has got to be 5000 pounds heavier and drag probably shaves off 20 knots. :) Better get to sanding boys!

Great progress TuFun. :applause:

I wished it was my handy work, but this is Matts doing! All I did was add lite alpha and prop fix to check her out in FSX.

The crew animation reminds me so much of the MAAM B-25 crew... love it! The Howard could use a crew like this.

I still have a lot to do on the Howard! -TuFun

I know ... bump maps gone crazy it seems. :)

The pilot crew is a Jan Visser creation and contribution so they are likely similar to that aircraft.

i just looked at it and saw a fair few sleepless nights while i did those rivets... Milton if you want i can probably get the bump and specular maps done for the FSX'ers so when the native FSX version comes along all the basics are done? gotta keep those on the dark side happy somehow :icon_lol:

Thank you Matt; that sounds great! :jump:

Found this reading up on the Ventura. It reminds us of why we sometimes get confused with questions and statements in a world-wide forum. :)
