Since rebuilding my sim on my new rig, I've been slowly adding and tweaking (rig about a year old now, lol). I started by adding the essentials and my payware. One of those included the Lago Honolulu (I've been trying to find as many as I can on ebay, Amazon, etc. Got most of them now) Anyway, was happily playing away with it, decided to try and make things better. Off I went on my discovery. Downloaded a heap of really nice looking sceneries for Hawaii, tried them and went back to Lago. Then I thought, it would be nice to try and combine the best bits of them all, and of I went. Then I remembered I had Mega City Hawaii Oahu, a freebie IIRC. Tried it and liked it, but was not as happy with the airport itself. Well, my combination theory really panned out, with the omission of the MCHO Honolulu airport scenery and the Lago airport plonked on top, bingo, I was astonished, they line up almost perfectly, with a couple of small exceptions, even the highways match. SWEET.

the 'ALMOST' part....

remember I did say almost....

Some slight problems exist. The Water runway lights do not line up with the excavated scenery runways. The taxiway bridge to the reclaimed land runway also doesn't match up. These are minor compared to how EXACT the rest lines up. My main gripe is the static F15's and C5s. I've trawled through the bgls to find missing textures as they appear to be missing them. No joy, they seem untextured, gawd thems ugly. No way I can find to get rid. You can turn down the detail, but that defeats the purpose. Haven't decided yet. Also some buildings appear untextured, I read about a patch to fix those issues, can't find it. Ho Hum.

What has 'made' this great for me is the traffic, thanks to MAIW and WOAI this place is alive, added to Lagos swaying palm trees and vehicle movements, just the mutts nuts. I did have to do a good bit of work on the AFCAD to add the military parking, but it has been worth it. Now I need to try the same theory on the rest of the airports.....

Jamie

Well, I solved my main gripe. Got rid of those ugly statics (could've lived with them if they were even textured). F15 and C5 gone for good, now I need to adjust my AFCAD to allow AI to park in the now vacant spots, yippee. The other gripes are liveable, maybe wouldn't mind sorting the water runway markers,I'll think about that one.

Solve one problem and another arises, now I have a mesh problem, CTD, unrelated, ho-hum.

Jamie

Agreed - statics should be optionally and easily removable in any scenery.
Long after the scenery remains usable, the statics will have become 'orrible.
Lots of FS2002 scenery is like that...now unusable as a result.
For that matter, the more individual bgl's the better, often stuff like iffy trees can ruin an otherwise great scenery.
