A question about FS Genesis

Hi All;

Took the plunge and bought the FS Genesis USA, Canada, and Alaska/Hawaii meshes for FSX today (helped that they're offering them at a 70%-off sale price!) and spent this evening loading them into my FSX scenery folders, but I'm just wondering if there are any tweaks I need to make to optimize the mesh? Also, anybody here use TileProxy for FSX? Worth having?

Thanks in advance,

N.

my personal view as a customer is that I really don't like FS genesis's work. They make ok mesh, but nearly every airport is on a plateau, and they have the cheek to charge you to fix it... stupidity. Not worth the money. I bought several, and its been the same each time.

Personal opinions will abound with this and that's as it should be...everyone will have their own expectations. FSGenesis is well worth the time and effort and money. I bought more when I was only running FS9, but now with UTX and other Mesh available as well as landclass, I haven't purchased as much. As for Tileproxy......not so much....I tried it for my home area of South Jersey and it was fun seeing the actual towns and areas where I grew up and as long as I stayed above 2000' feet it looked pretty darn good, but unless you want to spend a lot of time placing your own trees and buildings in certain areas, it goes from "pretty darn good" to "where am I" real fast. If you plan to use tileproxy, plan to stay in the air. That's all I've got, lol. . .plan to never land because the closer you get to the ground the "immersion factor" drops to zero as there are no trees, no buildings, nothing. The entire area becomes flat as a pancake when you land. If you don't mind that. . .go for it. . .personally, just like DX10, I think Tileproxy is a waste of time and "much ado about nothing". IMHO :icon_lol:

I use tileproxy when i fly. I agree with falcon that on the ground it is not the best since all trees are gone. however airport buildings are still there. if you have nice addon airports they will work too. but since fsx is about flying 90 % of the time im in the air. for me what is really killing the immersion factor is the generic textures fsx is putting everywhere. So you have to use your imagination a lot more about where you grew up. its free ware so you can just try and decide yourself.

Meso

ps deserts such as the area around las vegas become really really great areas to fly. also south dakota over the area of the movie "dances with wolves" are now great whereas in default fsx it just is boring.
