A question about scenery object compatibility

I often see files for FS9, but wonder if they will work in FSX? Such as:

FS2004 (ACOF) - FS2004 Scenery Objects

FS2004 Small Airstrip Objects SS V1+

[ Download | View ]

FS2004 Small Airstrip Objects SS V1+. V1+ adds specific compatibility with Rwy12, ADE9X, and Sbuilder 2.05. If you have already installed the previous version of this library and are not using one of these programs to place scenery objects, you do not need to download and install V1+. V1+ also includes the updated textures from SSTEXTURESUPDATE2.ZIP. Installing V1+ should not affect any scenery made using objects from V1. See small_airstrip_objects_ss_v1+_installation. txt for more information. By Sidney Schwartz.

Simple answer is that they just need to be tried out. Issues arise with transparency, as it's different in FSX that FS9. So forget things like trees.

Most anything by Sid Schwartz will work in FSX, I'm one of his biggest fans and can remember when he was first starting to use Gmax. Sid did have some problems with texture files, but there are updates to his work that correct the issues.

In addition to what LC said, I have found that the same object compiled for FSX will usually perform more efficiently in game. So depending on the complexity of the scenery you are making and if you plan on uploading it somewhere, it might be best to stick with native FSX compiled objects.
