A question about SP1 and SP2 for FSX

Hi all.

I am down at NAS Pensacola, visiting a shipmate of mine. He has an older PC system with FSX installed. He has not installed any addons to it. It is the basic, non-deluxe version.

He does NOT have Acceleration.

So in lieu of that, should I download and install SP1, and SP2?

Does SP2 add aircraft carrier ops?

Thanks.

No, SP2 does not contain the Acceleration features such as carrier ops, or engine damage, etc...
However, the SP2 will at least allow him to display properly the planes that were built for FSX Acceleration, for example the Tomcat and the T-45 by Dino, as well as all of the other recent FSX native planes built by te rest of the FSX community.

Afterwhile, you can always take a look at Arrestor Cables, a software that emulates carrier operations for those who don't have Acceleration.

Definitely SP-1 as it helps frame rates, etc.
SP-2...maybe. If you are flying FS9 stuff, SP-2 will upset your applecart. Many of the FS9 birds require many more fixes to fly with SP-2...depends...

I would normally say SP1 and SP2 but if it is an older system I would suggest SP1, try it and if it's good create a restore point and then add SP2 and test. If SP2 causes issues you should be able to roll back to the SP1 level.
