It's cyclical. As in flight, what goes up must come down. Like fuel, just a few months ago, we were yelling and screaming because fuel was so expensive (no need to look much further than that for the bad economy). Anyway, we wanted it, we had to have it, so guess what, we paid for it. No matter how much we pleaded poverty, injustice or cried for help, if we wanted the product, that was inflated by market forces just as happens to currency, we had to pay their price. Now.... the cycle has gone to the down side, fuel is much more reasonable, we can afford things, we're fat dumb and happy again. When the dollar tanks again, the guys across the waves can buy many copies cheaply, then when it goes up again, they can make a profit, selling to others. But, guess what, OBD still get's 50.00 dollars.
It's more than fair to let others voice that they can't afford it. It is fair to draw criticism or at least opposing opinions when others say it's too expensive, over priced, or not worth what they're asked to pay.
This is how a free market works. If enough people think it's worth the price, they'll buy it and OBD will continue status quo. If enough people don't think it's worth it, and don't buy it, then OBD will have to rethink the price if they want to sell more.
Now, my two cents.
1st penny: I paid 9.00 in shipping. I know it doesn't cost that much postage for that package to get to me, but I must suppose that a handling fee is also included which may be part of how the distributor is making their money. Fair enough, I don't expect them to handle, package and ship the product for free. So, if you want a download option, then I would say fairly, you just save shipping charges, which, may be enough to relieve the burden on some individuals.
2nd penny: Has anybody stopped and considered just how many OBD would have to sell to justifiably compensate the team for their expenses and labor in creating this game? Not even considering P1 and P2, I doubt if they will sell that many. (I will keep hoping and thinking that they will and more). So 50.00 is more than a bargain IMO.
For those who say they can't afford it, perhaps some kind soul will buy it for them. OR set up a charity fund to help defray the cost. That's voluntary and fair, but it's not fair to the rest of us to ask for reduced pricing because of exchange rates or other economic circumstances beyond any of our control. At some time or another we're all on the pointy end of that stick.
