A shout out for aircraft developers/painters.

Tomorrow is the Shuttleworth Collections 'uncovered' day, where they have a selection of aircraft set aside for up-close and personal viewings, rather than behind the fence. If the weather looks decent, I'll be going along.

Are any aircraft builders/painters needing any detail shots/comprehensive photo coverage of any of the following aircraft?

Eon Primary Glider
Avro Tutor
Hawker Demon
Fieseler Storch
de Havilland DH60X Moth
Westland Lysander
Sopwith Pup
Sopwith Triplane
SE5a Fighter
Deperdussin
Bleriot XI Monoplane
Blackburn Monoplane Type - D

Just thought I'd throw the offer out there, just in case :wavey:

Thanks for the Offer.....Sadly I don't have these planes, and don't do much in the paints for them.....
If you get pictures of them, you might upload them here for anyone who might want to....

Maybe check in with Paul at Golden Age Simulations as well.:salute:

the FSaddon Lysander was based on the Shuttleworth example, so that should be right. I don't know if the Shuttleworth Storch was also modelled in the FSaddon version? Francois?

Hopefully people will spot this thread. I'll have to check it just before I leave tomorrow morning!

Anything you can get of the Lysander's cockpit and instrumentation (especially) would be an enormous favour! :jump: Wish I could go...

I was right next to the Lysander a couple of months back, wandering around it whilst they were bringing the Hawker Hind back into the hanger. It's really really tall!! Not sure they'll let me into the cockpit, but I'll see if they have a stepladder nearby :)

I'm trying to complete for FS9 Peter Holloways M3A Falcon - I have the traplet produced CD of photos, but unfortunately there is no photo of the stbd inside of the cockpit mainly for the canopy door latch - I have guessed so far. Possibly a difficult shot to take! Does that aircraft have an electric starter? or is it hand swung?
Any info appreciated.

I don't think they'll have the M3A there tomorrow. The last time I saw one of those was back in June, when a trio of Miles aircraft flew in formation (a privately owned M3A, a Magister and a Gemini).

Here's the closest I've got to what you're after. If you look towards the front of the stbd door, through the small area of windscreen, I think you can just make out the latch. I've oversharpened it to make 200% vieing a little easier.

Click through to flickr to get the full sized image. If it ever turns up at Old Warden again, I'll have to collar the owner!!

Private Custard - many, many thanks for your information & Photo, fantastic quality. Unfortunately I cannot locate the catch on the stbd side as I think its just behind the pilots shoulder, but it did show the latest fuel filler cover that is not shown in the traplet shots that were taken some 6 or 7 years ago.
Again many thanks
Keith

I did better today. I spotted her in one of the hangers, behind the blue fences. I had a chat to someone, who let me through. Unfortunately the owner wasn't there, so we couldn't open her up. I had to hold the camera at arms length, over the wing, and shoot blind into a tiny open window.

This should hopefully be what you're after. As before, click through to flickr for the full sized copies.

Oh, also, this one has its own starter, but not all of them do. :)

and a bonus shot of a bit of the dashboard!

EDIT: Oh, I also got this for you, just in case!

Private Custard - Oh what joy!!!! I cannot thank you enough - that detail is totally missing from the Traplet CD. Many Many thanks again.
As for the starter - I thought it might have one as its got a post WWII Gipsy Major 10 - same as in the Chipmunk, but unfortunately I cannot locate the start button in the cockpit - must be hidden somewhere!!!
Regards
Keith

P.S. A closer look has found the start button - there is just the top of the dymo label showing behind the quilt, & it has a red warning lamp alongside it. So thanks again for the very detailed photo!

No problem at all :)

I only wish I could have fulfilled the Lysander request too, but she was on the flightline. I was told I could probably arrange a viewing though :jump:

I envy you so much! That is my favourite airfield on earth. Been there twice in my life.

The second time I was there I was scratchbuilding a DH88 Comet model. The "Grosvenor House" was out on the grass. I simply asked if I could go near and take pictures and they were kind enough to even open the canopy for me. After all, as they said, I've come a long way. That was back in 1999.

I've been there quite a lot this summer. Yesterday was the real highlight for me though. They flew a staggering number of aircraft. Being able to walk right up to them was a really nice bonus :D

Just as an example, this is the only airworthy Hawker Demon in the world....

No, we used the Fantasy of Flight aircraft for our development.

I took a lot of pictures when in the Lysander cockpit back when doing the research. Anything particular you need?
