A Small Victory with G2K

With some expert guidance and some good tutorials my first Ground2K/EZ-Landclass project has been completed. I've hardly scratched the surface as to what can be done with these tools but for this project it was just enough.... This is going to be great!

It's not so much what IS there but what is NOT there anymore......
 
The problem is: Over the years, I got very familiar with the stock comic strips of CFS2.

I need to hang around that virtual area again for some time now, to feel at home again.

These are problems! :costumes:
 
LOL, Come On Jaxon, we don't need no steeenkin' comic strips!

Don't ya just love it, PM is about to get it's LC deranged. Going to get rid of the field and about 60% of the town, it's way over built even for today.

The project for tonight went very well. I set out to get rid of the Stock Port Moresby Field and reduce the size of the town by 2/3rd. Something much closer to the real size of it.

I've got one thing left to do that is to create the exclude to get rid of the stock runway. After that PM is ready for all six fields from 3 Mile to 17 Mile. I have 17 Mile Durand about half done. Just needs the GSL.

That's just what I'm shooting for. I've dicided to see if I can trim it a bit more. From all of the pictures I've seen the town didn't even get into the hills that overlook the harbors.
 
I'll try to dig out my mother-in-law's collection of photos. She was a nurse's aid in NG during the war, where she met her husband- a colonial administrator.

Thanks AGUS. I ended up extending the town a little bit further NW to make sure anyone who did GSL for PM had room to fit in the Seaplane base.

Hi Pen,

You're doing that with G2K? I tried doing some landclass with G2K and it was a complete failure. Nothing at all happened. I was able to dope out how to do roads, rivers, and shorelines, but getting the coords to match up with existing features was a real pain.

Ettico, that's why I use EZ-Landclass to output the bgls for the ground LC changes. Using FSConnect.dll lets you Slew to a point and then read where you are at in the spread sheet or, you can select a point on the spread sheet and tell CFS2 to "Fly to Here" and it will slew your A/C to that point. For the detailed stuff, shore lines, roads and rivers, and working with maps as a background that's when you need to use G2K. Also G2K has an BGL output problem. I have been learning how to Export a RAW File from G2K and then Import that data into EZLC. Then create the BGL from EZLC.

Unless you need help with the first two AF PNG Airfield paks I'm going to let this thread slide down the slope. I've started a new one for my current PM work.
