A suggestion has been made...MTO scenery guide

Hi to all !

The North Africa scenery to Alexandria, Desert_scen, is a starting point to give coastlines that fit wish the meshes near to the real world to give to correlate with the existing airbases where it's needed and to prepare the terrain to built some new scenery, in town or airfield scale, and theses will go in the future Desert_bases folder but that's for later ....

A suggestion ,if you have multiple cfs2 theatres and installs that use commons scenery, it's better to install only one time these scenery folders outside the Game a.e

C:\ CFS2 scenery, where you place all your Dem 5 7 8, R's watermasks, sdc_Eurw, Afnor_scen, Marianas, Desert_scen, etc.....and you will set these in the diverse installs by their scenery library, and only keep in the scenedb folder only the specific sceneries for these theatres a.e Gib 40 for early Euro west and gib 43 for late Euro west, the same thing about the Japan or US bases about the Marianas.

All my scenery since the begin work in a C:\project folder ,as Sander had advised in his g2k tutorial ....

I'm doing all my best to complete quickly as is possible the Afnor part II. :running:

Jean Bomber,

Precisely! I was describing this exact same thing in posts 23, 33, and 35.

Ambidextrous !

...I will be using the new meshes for the first time so that will be the foundation. I am not sure about this centralized system, but i will see how it goes. i only have one install so it is a moot point i think....

The beauty of all this scenery progress is that we CAN experiment now, Chris !

And, once you have the second install tweaked [c'mon - you KNOW you want to !].... the sky's the limit.

Well, that and hard drive space.... :wavey:

Centralized files

I read this thread on Rami's ideas on centralized scenery files and came to think (yes, I know, but it does happen). So I pose this question to all you geniusses who can do all these wonders: Could it be possible to have airplanes in a centralized folder, and let the missions call them from this, rather than from the aircraft file? Then we would get rid of the nasty 200 (sometimes less) plane limit of the game. One could have a hangar with literally thousends of planes outside CFS2 and only keep the default planes inside the aircaft folder. IF this can be done, then Rami must be the man for it.

Yes I saw that after ....
Sorry professor ! during your demonstration I was watching a stuff outdoor through the window I was not completely waked up ....:kilroy:.

I want to know... how are your fps my main issue is also to make a civil gsl not too heavy to keep a place for a military and objectives layout (weapons inf veh ships...) and to permit to do some playable missions around. The deal for the high density town scenery is more to suggest than really show all the building the choice of the objects is crucial also, a.e the Wolfi's modulables objects help facilitate in this way added to a right placement of a town landclass .....

JP,

I have found no appreciable frame rate loss at these locations, my frame rates consistently stays above 30-33 frames per second, unless I am over areas of high density, then it may drop briefly to 25-30. These are well inside acceptable limits.

Rami & all
Been away for a while from sims. Happy to see work on MTO scenery install instructions. I have always had problems with my MTO scenery. Following Rami's ETO instructions, my ETO is faultless.
I am going to have to study the posts here. I got kind of rusty!
Thanks to all for the input. I'll see how it goes over the next few weeks as I get time. I am anxious for a little stick time and my trigger finger has been itchy!

After a few hours sleep and a good strong cuppa I took another look at my new med install. For some reason, Malta just wouldn't load on my machine when I put the sceneries in in the prescribed mannner. What stumped me was JB's worked perfectly, why not Bruno's?

I checked my old original MTO install to see what sequence I had for the Malta stuff and except for Malta_BSK_v.2 which came last, the order was reversed. I tried that and 'EUREKA', it worked! So for me, for some reason the install sequence has to be:

Malta1
Malta2
and lastly Landclass Malta, followed by Malta_BSK_v.2

I still get the occasional CTD after starting down the runway at Hal Far, but I'll live with it for now. I DID find that by banking to the right on liftoff I was able to keep things going as long as I wanted. For some reason, banking left after takeoff seems to cause the CTD's.

This system of a centralized scenery folder is terrific! I'll be redoing all my installs to conform to this procedure. Thanks so much for this Rami........ya done well!:salute:

Cheers!

Note from Hooraw >

I did the same, by changing the numbers, and it works without CTD, so far, and Hey Rami!, the wheels are now on the right layer, and not knee deep (above wheels), in a layer as demo'd by the screen shots in my Mers el Kebir thread. Thanks Alpha_1 for the tip! Now how to beat those me 109's that swarm me, and my wingman are no help!!

Interesting.. I have set it up as Rami suggests, it works most of the time, however, I have that occasional ctd sometimes. Not only when taking off at Hal Far, but also when flying in the vicinity of Valetta.

Did changing the sequence eliminate the ctds altogether for you?
