A2A B-17 is out today in P3Dv4 and V5

Strange I have always avoided the B-17 until I read a book about Bomber Command and discovered the RAF's 100 Squadron used them for special ops (EW) in the latter stages of WW2 due to their ability to get to F350 which the Lancaster could not. Apparently the throat mikes were a big hit with crews after the mask and switch system used by the Brits. Anyway - into the hangar this one now goes at a good price too!

That's Cairns - recognise it anywhere! What's an RAF B-17 doing in Cairns?? Still, I should talk - I've flown Mustangs and Starfighters out of there for 15 years!! Probably my favourite place on God's earth outside of Cornwall!

Happy Christmas to you all and stay safe, stay well

DaveQ

Cairns and the area around it is really lovely, I've been there a couple of times in real life, also flying from the airport. There's also a great air force museum a couple of clicks inland, an absolute joy to visit.

Cheers, and happy christmas to all,
Mark

And the B17 looked really sexy in black.
Some thirty odd years ago one of the better Modelling mags did a multi part coverage of the RAF special ops units and many interesting details were revealed.
:encouragement:

The Cairns region was the largest B17 operating in Australia during WW2 that bombed PNG and the Japanese stronghold at Rabal and the Solomon's and other outlying Japanese held islands. Mareeba airfield only a few kms down the rd from that museum was one of the largest, there is a memorial there including a 17 prop to all the lost crews and one for the frame that crash landed killing all. From memory the OZx scenery for Mareeba as the memorial included as I did all the imagery for the field developer.

Excellent news! Hope there’s a way to obtain some of the older repaints that were OZx exclusives (assuming they work on this version). Downloading now and trying to seek out a civvy one called Kenting that was red and white. We’ll see...

Bought it! THANKS! I have been waiting for this deal!! NC :encouragement::applause:

This is hard for me to start even with accusim off. The Ctrl + E makes engine one start and smoke with no other engines starting.

A lot of details/procedures to go thru and get familiar with on this one.
