I decided to have another go with the 377 as I have some time on my hands. I'd updated the aircraft with the service pack but not attempted to fly it. So all the paint schemes are very dark and seem to lack any alpha shine at all?

Nick,
They seem to lack alphas altogether but when I check the textures their alphas are all quite dark. I only have the default textures and all display as very matt and dark?

A few users reported the alpha issue with the update. I for one updated and have no problems with the alpha, so not sure of the solution. Check the forums though as it should NOT be like that.

I've redownloaded and installed the service pack in case it had been updated since I first got it and no change, totally matt and dark. The texture files have darkened alphas and should show as shiny. I've checked their forums for this problem but have found no mention of it.
I'll have to try and remember my password and write on their boards.

Well just did a complete uninstall and then reinstalled 377 and update.
Same problem.

Time to find password and user name for their forum.

(Edit) found details and have posted on the A2A forums.

I'm giving this a bump because I'm sure there must be others have had this problem. My set-up is fairly typical as are my os settings and hardware.

Rog,
It could be that a non-default reflection file is affecting your 377....:kilroy:

Making it shinier?

Well P you were right!:applause:
I've reverted to the default env maps and all is well with the B377. Of course the replacement env maps that enhanced all the other aircraft and general ambiance are now back to where they were.

Roger, does your early BOAC scheme look better? I recall something about this version being updated (material wise) for a better bare metal look but the others weren't (I could be wrong.........)

Hi Winjeel the post above gives the solution. But to see shine from the alpha textures in the 377 you have to install the default env maps replacing addon env maps that for all other aircraft enhanced the general ambiance but made the 377 textures seem matt?

The 377 has custom env maps that affect only it (according to A2A), so it seems there is a conflict between those maps and anything but the universal default env maps.

Yeah,
You're right but I hate anything that makes your FsX a one plane sim.
I've saved the updated env maps and may well replace them after trying once more to get the 377 up in the air so I can do some spot view flying without getting stressed whether the damn thing will crash and burn again..
