Yeah,
You're right but I hate anything that makes your FsX a one plane sim.
I've saved the updated env maps and may well replace them after trying once more to get the 377 up in the air so I can do some spot view flying without getting stressed whether the damn thing will crash and burn again..

I do agree with that statement about the one plane sim! I have similar issues with some sceneries, where it seems to take as much time just configuring the sim to make things look right as I spend flying around.

As for getting the 377 up in the air, I started with accu-sim off to get basic flow down, paying as much attention as I could to doing thing correctly but with less worry. One useful thing to do is to use the picture in picture function of FSX, I think it's the "]" or "[" key that opens it up, and moving that view to the cowl flaps. The hardest part about getting the thing up in the air is overheating and paying attention to RPM/MP and the cowl flaps is difficult unless you have that second view open so you don't have to switch around so quickly. Once you are on an established climb you can flip on the autopilot to maintain your pitch and then it's easier to move around the cockpit to fine tune.

I'm sure your knowledge of planes is far greater than mine, I'm just throwing out there how I set up my cockpit in a way that might make things easier.

Hobofat,
Your knowledge of engine management is probably far greater than mine. I'm an eye candy man first and foremost, striving for the ultimate "Willing suspension of disbelief" which FsX gives me above any other flightsim. I was not willing to acknowledge that engine management was a part of that scenario. I'm good with the Aerosoft Hughes and Catalina now so onwards to the 377 with my parachute packed:bump:

Watch your flaps, trim, and cowl flaps...if you don't have it set up right you won't get the thing off the ground. Took me forever to figure out why the stupid plane was stalling at 50 ft. agl when I was at full power and well over V2. Had the cowl flaps a couple notches too far open. As it turns out, a real 377 was ditched into a bay for precisely the same reason: FE had the cowl flaps all the way open and no one could figure out why the plane wasn't going up...

Good advice!
I'll take it in easy stages and first I'll make sure I'm not overloaded with passengers and fuel:gameoff:

Well it's 03:37 here in the UK so the next round will happen (not too early) tomorrow:wavey:

This may help, from my review of the B377 - http://www.screenshotartist.co.uk/a2a_377_review.htm

"The setup that I have found works to allow you to start, taxi and take off is as follows: You need the cowl flaps open to the top of their green arcs, Intercooler Flaps set to about 2.5-3", Ram Air on, Oil Cooler Flaps auto. With those set and more throttle than you think you need for idle (anything up to about 50% may be needed, depending on how well your aircraft decides to work) then you should be ready to go."

I still love that aircraft. :)
