A2A Piper Cub Released!

How are the FPS? Say compared to Carenado products? Or at least compared to another GA payware product?

Frames are very good - just slightly under default but at the friendly end of payware.

Plus, the atmosphere is so rich you'll never notice a couple of missing frames.

It's a game changer.

Agreed with all of the above, taking off from Tammie this morning with a nervous passenger, wow, just amazing!

1st plane I got paid to fly. Flew one from Daytona beach to Myrtle beach grand strand. Hot,loud, creaky and got passed by birds. I seriously considered changing my profession that day.

Now figure out a way to snag a banner and I will buy it.

What a sweet little airplane! :jump:

Just a little thing, but it adds so much to the immersion for me: you put her in a slip to lose a little altitude on final, keeping the same pitch attitude, and the airspeed indication goes down. Your indicated airspeed goes down, but your real airspeed doesn't, because the yaw on the pitot tube makes it indicate low. Well done, Scott, just like the real ones do. :ernae:

cheers,
steve :wavey:

With the identical pitch attitude, actual airspeed should decrease a bit in a slip as the slipping motions both increases a drag (the main effect) and rolls some lift of of the upper wing as a vortex. However, in a slip, some forward stick is used to increase the angle of descent, which is the whole point of the exercise. I provided Scott with the preliminary fligh dynamics for this plane, whether any trace of them remains I have no idea, but I am sure they have at least put a lot of effort into them.

That it is a simple plane, it's sucess in flight sim will be in the details.

Cheers: T.

Took it up for a half hour spin before I had to do yard work and hit the grocery store. Stable as a rock, and about as fast as one too :running:

Great product; now I gotta read the accu-sim manual and figure out how to start her up by hand. And I ain't talking about the passenger :173go1:

hahahah heres the condensed version, fuel on, magnetos both, prime 3-4 times, crack the throttle, hit A 3? times spin the prop a couple times and she should fire.

on another note i started her up and went to take off and she started sputtering and eventually quit, and it said i needed to repair the engine. What the heck did i do, the only thing i can think of is i tapped the prop while lifting the tail on takeoff??

Prop damage is modelled so if you hit the prop on the ground you know it right away. ;)

What was the weather like when the engine quit? Accu-Sim takes into consideration many environmental factors but due to the long air intake on the Cub engine it is prone to icing even in very hot conditions if the humidity is also high. Whenever you close the throttle you must turn on the carb heat to prevent carb icing. It sounds like you had an ice build up that starved the engine when you tried to take off but that shouldn't have caused enough damage to require an engine repair (thankfully it doesn't cost a fortune in FSX, it's just a click away after all ;) ) but without knowing exactly what you did and under what circumstances it is hard to be sure.

One thing that is for sure with Accu-Sim at it's current level (we are now in the 3rd generation of A-S) and that is flight 'simming' takes on a whole new meaning!

Yep, been sitting here reading the manual on one computer, and trying stuff out like hand starting on my FS rig. Easy 'nuff, but really neat as well.

The documentation in the manual is superb. I use the real world Voyager flight planner, and set-up the J-3 as one of my aircraft. This may be the first aircraft manual that provides you with literally all the info I need, including weight and balance info. Incredible, and an incredible albeit simple aircraft.

Even edited the pilot image for my own 'mug'.

I am gonna have some fun with this bird....no doubt about it.

still enjoying myself:

Beautiful shots Jan Kees!:applause:

Is it safe to replace the default Cub with the A2A Cub (by renaming the aircraft titles), or is there something i haven't thought of?

That Heidi surely is some fun. "Is flying really save than driving?" Not, when I'm flying. :icon_lol:

Besides she could loose a few pounds. With a "manly" pilot and Heidi plus luggage (totaling at 1280lbs) I was nearly unable to lift my Cub out of the water. I even stalled back into the water once. You can imaging what Heidi said about that. :bump:

I haven't flown with Heidi yet, I reckon it's about time I see how loud she can scream. Heeeere Heidi, Heidi...........:wiggle:

You sure, Scratch ? :)
I used my trackir to take a look on how the Cub looks outside in the internal model and look who I found in the luggage :engel016: "Just press a button in the shift+4 panel" and she will come, hehe ;)

Lucas

Cool! She's been in the trunk the whole time.......hell, if she's already back there I don't see why she can't hand me a beer.:ernae: These Cub flights sure are long. A man's gotta have some refreshment every once in a while:applause::icon29:
