A2A Simulations F-4 Phantom. Any updates on progress?

not seen anything since they posted those renders, guess they're all out on the p51 at the mo
 
I don't think there will be any noticable progress on the F-4 until they get the F-104 almost complete.
Same went for the Mustang. There wasn't much posted about it until the P-40 became almost complete...
 
NC , Strange to think , a Kiwi i am and when the US Navy mentioned the retirement of the F4 from the primary fleet carriers (i was 11/12 then) i thought the whole world was falling apart :kilroy:

I still believe the Phantom was one of the most beautifully-designed aircraft in history. And I must tell you, riding in the back seat of a Phantom is unlike anything I've ever experienced. The power was unbelievable. And you could feel those afterburners kick in against your back. I will never forget the feeling of that first take off.....Better than any roller coaster ride times 100!!

Oh yes...the F-4 is one hell of a machine!
Doing my annual 2 weeks of reserve duty at the 71st FW in Wittmund/Germany...and they will fly the F-4F in the QRA role until 2013.
The phly out will be in July 2013 and I WILL be there to say "Godspeed" to the last of the phantastic Phantoms leaving the base. :salute:

I flew 7 years in the B707 (E-3A) and I love her more than (almost) anything but I grew up with the F-4 flying over my hometown in the 70s...

Back to topic...I am so excited to see that A2A is working on the phabulous Phantom!
I HAVE to have one, once it is released! :jump:
 
Another massive phan of the F-4 here! Grew up in the UK during the 70's and RAF and USAFE Phantoms were a regular sight.
 
Same here....... won't have time to go through all the A2A 'operations' though, so I may just put it in my hangar and look at it... indefinitely ! :applause:
 
Back when I was at Fort Knox for Armor School in 1982 the Kentucky ANG up in Louisville
had RF-4C's. They would come down and practice touch and goes on the strip at the base.
I think I was actually more interested in them than the tanks we were working with.

The Phantom has a unmistakeable "howl" when it flies. When I was at Pax River, they had, I think, about 3 or 4 Phantoms. One was, I believe, a F-4B, and the others were F-4Js.

When they would fly overhead, I didn't even have to look up to know there was at least one Phantom in the pattern. Fantastic sound!!!

As you said NC , the Phantom would have to be the prettiest machine of its type ever built and people call it ugly , guess that,s were the 'Slugger' nickname come from ... the pilot smacking the chap who said that :icon_lol:

I served 6 Years in the GAF as a Radar Operator, and i remember the "Fun" we always had when the F-4´s from Wittmund made low passes over our Radar Station (CRC) firing up their Afterburner and setting off our whole Alarm Systems. :icon_lol:
Can´t wait for the A2A Release.....
 
Grew up around Phantoms in the 70's in Holloman and Zweibrucken, Germany. Both bases were fantastic in allowing many low level flights by both the D and E model in Holloman and RF in Zweibrucken. Still remember hearing the crashing glasses or plates when the sonic booms occured, as well as the colorful language mom would use as a by-product. Needless to say, dad's next assignment was to Scott, working the more sedate C-9 and mom got new dishes.

Anyway, I agree the Phantom was a fabulous work of art, from the fantastic sharks mouth motif's to the later wrap around European camoflauge of the mid 80's. I always loved sitting at the end of the runways at Scott, watching the various jets spooling up to take off. Wish I had my digital SLR back then. Was even fortunate enough to have seen the initial Eagle, accompanied by the then McDonnel Douglas chase plane, F-4 Phantom,think it was an E variant. Miss seeing the smoke trails before the actual plane.....knowing full well it could only be a Phantom.

Sorry to be a grammar Nazi, but when discussing Phantoms, one must replace f's with ph's...i.e. PHABULOUS and PHANTASTIC! :icon_lol::icon29:
