A2A Spitfire blue canopy reflection solved!

It looks like you may have overdone it just a tad. The bubble canopy appears to be the only item with glass now.

Paul:

Awesome job! Can you please give a few more details on exactly how you did it (and how we can do the same)? I am not quite sure what the "environment map" is or how one can tone down the blue on it. Thanks!

Very nice work, i am so pleased someone has finally worked out how to fix this issue.

Well done Paul on finding this, and thanks also to Dave.

Good work gents.

Cheers.

Gents,

You have to change the env.dds texture in the common texture file in the Spitfire root folder. I just put an extra faint grey layer over the middle section in paintshop and saved again as dds with DXTBmp

The effect is obvious. I'm trying to retain a bit of blue, but it seems that every change immediately inactivates the blue reflection. So it could be just an on or off choice.

Next thing to try is using the default FSX environment mapping.

Good luck,

Paul

Hi Gents,

Using the FSX original environment map file: GlobalEnvTest.dds in the root texture folder did the trick! Some of the blue/grey background remains, showing a bit more glass in the canopy.

Simply copy the GlobalEnvTest.dds file to the Spit's texture folder. Backup the original Env.dds file and rename the Global file to Env.dds.

It works!
