A2A Spitfire out!

Slightly late to replying, but zsoltquack: please tell me you're going to upload that prototype somewhere or, if you already have, can I have a link please?!
Jan Kees: Thanks for doing a 609 aircraft. That means I can abandon my P9322 repaint with its varying source information (again!) and find a Digby one to do. Unless anyone else is lining up a 611Sqn repaint? Unfortunately no-one over at A2A responded to my request for information regarding Sgt. William Duncan Smith's personal insignia on the side of FY-N / X4253 so I've already abandoned that one.

here's another 322 Sqn paint: Mk.Vb W3127 VL-P 'Soesterberg'
and I've come across persistent rumors that at least one Mk.IIa was flown by a Dutch Pilot.
After a forced landing in Yorkshire, P7981 was struck off charge in late 1941, but seems to have been repaired and 'loaned' by Prince Bernhard of the Netherlands for use as his personal plane, until august 1944.
I have no idea if this is true, and I have not found any pictures, but I did find a profile, so this is what it may have looked like:
which gives us "HRH Prince Bernhard visiting No.322 (Dutch) Squadron":

Thanks very much zsoltquack... I just went to look at the Supermarine plant at Eastleigh, to see if I could make something for this repaint to call home.
Unfortunately some bright spark turned it into Southampton International Airport in the meantime. Bah!!!

Yes,
Eastleigh and Martlesham heath were the main testing places for K5054 and Boscombe down. As for weybridge it is another name for Brooklands, where the testing and the production of the hurricane took place, (Prototype K5083)

Martlesham Heath is possible, but I'm lacking detailed information. The tower, a period row of houses and the end of one runway are present to locate it, although most of it is under an 80s/90s housing development.
I have two very basic plans of it, which disagree on the runways, let alone anything else (one of which is a Luftwaffe recon photo marked up with target info!) and no structures/tech & admin area info at all. So it's not going to be anywhere near high on the list right now.

Hi,
I'm afraid i have no information on martelsham heath either, apart from a story from one of the first RAF pilots allowed to fly K5054, and very nearly forgot to lower the landing gear.
K5054 and Mutt summers did a display to the press on 18th june 1936 at Hatfield an airfield she did some of the testing from I belive, it was this occasion that the engine lost all or its oil just after take off, with accusim we could be doing the same, Mutt managed to land her, but only just it was also where the only known film footage of K5054 was taken, though this was done on the 29th june (after a replacement engine was sorced)
