It should be pretty cool once completed. Got several hours left on it though as its my first attempt at painting the A2A beast. :engel016:

Thanks guys. Here's another quick update.

I'm getting a crash course (pun may be intended...) in alpha channels with this thing.

Just got to finish the alphas and wing details and I think she's ready to go. If anyone's interested I'll upload on here (however I do that...?). Otherwise I was planning on waiting until the AVSIM library (where all my other stuff was/is) is up and running again.

Not sure if you are using Photoshop, But if you are, and want your Logos to form in a little bit you can use a very powerful tool in the Blending options section.

Its part of "knock out" and you will see a menu that says "blend this layer if Grey, blue, green, red"
Then below are sliders for "this layer" or Other layers

With these sliders you can adjust dark and light to bring up details from any layer below, or above, or the layer you are working on.

Looking Great by the way, love the stain. Does the exhaust Heat Warpage and Stain just stop abruptly at the end of that square?

All of the weathering and stuff is what A2A did for their default paint.

I did the logos and stuff the same way they did too. I just made their things invisible and made a group of layers for my markings.

I'll look into the blending thing on my next paint though. Thanks for the tip. :ernae:

On the second photo, you can see that the exhaust stain does not stop on the heat paneling around the exhaust stacks. Rather, it continues over the wings and off the rear near the flaps.

The heat discoloration does seem to stop there though, so it is probably just the difference in how the two metals react to heat - the steel around the stacks discolors more than the aluminum further away.

Soot, however, apparently doesn't care, and sticks to both.

Here's a few pics of my hi-res version, also a "gul Kalle" (yellow K), but of the 4th squadron. I went wild on this one, including all the swedish stencils, and the etched old american registration..

I don't know if you are interested in more details about the one you're doing, but 26153/SE-BKG had the late style big swedish walkways on the wings, I can show you pics if you like?

Cool! Thanks for the offer but I've already submitted it to SOH. I guess I'll have to save small details for the american one I plan on doing. :mixedsmi:

Strangely enough the American markings didn't show through on the pics I have of SE-BKG.

no worries, if you need any help, you know where to find me

That's not strange, since SE-BKG was a modern day restoration, and mine was meant to show a 1948 Swedish Airforce aircraft.
