...an upgraded version of Maxi's A6M3_Zero that corrects the landing gear glitch in the original. It should be available for download tomorrow. :ernae:

For convenience the download will contain the complete aircraft ready to drop into your CFS2/Aircraft folder. It has been renamed: A6M3_22. This is to diffferentiate it from the original and from the forthcoming A6M3_32. :engel016:

An _OH is B24Guy's excellent upgrade to the stocker A6M2/5 A/C .mdls.

With DXTBmpx using the alpha channel it is possible to remove the exhaust stacks, gun bbls., and wing tips to convert the -5 back to a -3 (same cowl/engine).

...use the 1% -2 or -3 .dp as a base for damage and the 1% -3 spreadsheet for the .air file.

...add love (and lard), ...and voila...

B-24 Guy's 'reworked' Zero's are nice as are those by Akemi and a couple of other talented and hardworking folks. The fact that they exist caused me to question why I would want to do 'just another Zero'. :wiggle:

Of course, this all started as an effort to fix a landing gear problem on Maxi's
A6M3 Type 22, and evolved into a project exploring the possibilities of using source files extracted from MDL files with MDLC to produce bug-free variants of the design. That was a mouthful! :kilroy:

And it works, though there is a learning curve, and some issues that haven't as yet been resolved. However, Archisoft probably has the answers tucked away somewhere. :ernae:

CAN YOU erase the fix version of A6m3 model 22?, because it´s not the model 22!.
I see a A6m2 model 21!.
 
My development of the Zeros...

...is a Work-In-Progress. The aircraft MDLs are derived from Ivan's MDLC Object files. This type of file proves to be very complicated to work with in FSDS3.0 and 2.24...about 400% more difficult than a normal FSC file. For that reason, there will be a number of ongoing upgrades as the progress is slow, and compromises have to be made in some areas. :running:

There are newer versions of both the A6M3_22 and the 32 in process. I am fairly obsessive about my projects, and am moving toward the end-product of these aircraft one version at a time. So in the meanwhile, I hope everyone can enjoy the interim versions. :wave:
 
Multi-LOD Final Posted...

I just uploaded the final version of the A6M3_22 that I will do. It has been multi-LODed and had some other details added. Should be up tomorrow. Enjoy! Now on to the final multi-LOD of the A6M3_32. :ernae:

what is multi-LODed?

I think LOD means Levels Of Detail, and it means that in the same model file (.mdl in case of CFS2) there are several 3D models which are shown at different distances. So, when a plane is very close to the camera you will see a more detailed model, but when it's far away you don't need such detail and then a less-polygon model can be used. This way the CPU or GPU can handle more objects on screen.

I love multiLOD models, because they allow the game to handle more stuff at the same time. It's one of the main factors I take into account to decide which plane I will use if different options are available.
 
For you folks who...

...have been asking for de-mirrored textures, I'll see what I can do. But I have to tell hou that altering texture maps on this type of 'extracted' FSC file is terribly complicated. :isadizzy:
 
Multi-LOD...

...is aptly described by JapLance. In the screenie below you will see that within the A6M3_32 MDL file are in fact seven (7) separate models:

exterior - The fully detailed model.

VC - The model you see when in VC mode.

Detail, Shell, Origami, Generic and Distance models are progressively less detailed versions of the 'exterior' model that are displayed as distance increases. The Distance model may have as few as two polygons.

The fewer polygons to display the higher the frames per second and the more aircraft, etc. you can get in the picture without turning it into a slow slideshow.

Maxi wanted to know what it is so he could tell me how to do it. I really didn't want him to know, because a little knowledge is a dangerous thing...particularly with Maxi. :costumes:

why do you remove the bullets and breaking parts from original A6M2.fsc?

.... not remove the 'breaking' parts. They are still there: Nose, Engine, Wing, Fuselage and Tail.

I did remove the bullet holes and 'damaged' parts (the ragged edge stuff) for the sake of faster FPS.

If I leave all of that in after modifying a lot of parts and replacing them, the entire DP will have to be re-written because of part numbering changes that have occurred during the process.

Do you really think the bullet holes and ragged parts should be put back in? No one engaged in a dogfight sees these features anyway. :wavey:

I am a little obcesive and treatment of being fast with the hobby cfs2 because is a game and I have 23 years olds and I am in personal war in order to ascending. the society is dangerous :karate:
