'Abandoned: Buffalo Central Station'

I'm glad to see the last poster wrote that it is being restored. That would make a GREAT R/R museum , shopping mall, eatery, school, etc, etc.

Many of the old RR terminals were works of art. Many years ago Cincinnati's Union Terminal was facing a similar fate but it was restored and saved. Hopefully this one will be as well.

Same thing on this side of the Atlantic. London has several major termini, which had been allowed over time to decay; in the last 10-15 years people have begun to wake up to the history of these sites & have started to restore and sensitively redevelop them - the mistakes made with Euston station in the 1960s have been learned (the original 1837 building was totally demolished and replaced with a total monstrosity.

The jewel in our crown now is St Pancras, both the station & the Midland Grand Hotel which was derelict for years have been revamped & are totally gorgeous.

These places are our heritage, and should be preserved. I hope Buffalo gets the treatment it needs, and this work of art will continue to serve generations to come.

Those are beautiful. I love the combination of modern trains with that architecture but I'm also a major fan of the old, grand hotels.

Here's a link to Union Terminal: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cincinnati_Museum_Center_at_Union_Terminal

I'm particularly fond of it's Art Deco style.
