Accessibility menu driving me insane

SOH-CM-2022
I fired up FS2020 for the first time in quite a while and it seems totally FUBARed.

It appears to have lost all my settings and it starts up with this ""Accessibility Menu" that is being read out to me while this inane music plays in the background.

I click next and it goes away but continues to read to me (even tho that feature is turned off). It then goes part way thru the initial setup and appears to hang.

Short of deleting MSFS and going back to P3D does anyone know how to fix this and stop the sim from starting at the Accessibility menu every time?

Thanks

Does this help?

Assistance vs. Accessibility
It is important to distinguish between Accessibility and Assistance settings, as they are located in different sub-menus:

Accessibility (Options > General Options > Accessibility): Focuses on UI, readability, and interaction methods.

Key Accessibility Settings

Cockpit Interaction System:
Lock: Recommended for controller users; uses blue highlights and tooltips to make clicking buttons easier.
Or
Legacy: Recommended for mouse/keyboard users; mimics traditional flight simulator behavior without the visual "lock-on" highlights.

Narration: Enable Screen Narrator here, with adjustable volume, pitch, and speed.

No, not really.
I know the difference between Accessibility and Assistance.
It is definitely starting in the Accessibility screen (and reading the stupid thing to me). I click next and it shows me the screen about World Update Japan, then I have to reset my Graphic Settings, then World Data Streaming Settings, then Control Settings, then Assistance Settings, then world update Japan again

Then it states that there are Essential Packages Updates that It needs to do, takes me back to the Accessibility screen and when I click next I get this screen

I've done this about 5 times over the course of this weekend (see definition of stupidity)

I've gone into XBox and verified the install. At which point it re-downloaded about 2.7 GB of data.

I guess there is nothing to do but un-install.

Honestly I'm not sure I will bother re-installing.

Whenever I run into this cr.... I start out with the X-BOX updates and only then with Simulator, Marketplace, Content Manager and then Accessibility and Assistance up to flightsim.to - you never know what they 'broke/improved'. Taking shortcuts usually sets you up for extra work. OH -and don't forget to look for updates on your 3rd Party aircraft with your diffrent dealers ...... It's quiet a journey and I have difficulties to appreciate it - put in your definition of PITA

I have just completely un-installed and then re-installed MSFS 2020 with exactly the same symptoms.

The program just isn't worth the effort.

I had a similar problem with MSFS 2020 not updating about a week ago. Took me a few days to get it working again. A reinstall finally worked from Xbox program as admin. I reloaded digital ownership first, then the simulator.

Something on your system is keeping MSFS from saving your setup choices. Accessibility should only appear on first run.

Do you run as Administrator in Windows? If your account is a regular User account, try right-clicking MSFS2020 and choosing "Run as Administrator" and see if that lets you save your settings.

Nothing has changed except that I was away for a few weeks. When I came back MSFS was behaving like this.

Going to try MSFS 2024 and see if that is better.

Another weird thing - having re-installed MSFS 2020 there is no icon for it on the desktop. I always had an icon before
