Actual News! - Airbus engine failure

Anything mechanical is subject to failure. Just glad no one was hurt.

This is true - just ask my refrigerator. And it's a fairly new engine (and aircraft). Probably a good idea to ground the fleet.

Huh - I've just read that the fan tips of the Trent 900 do rotate with a speed of Mach 1.5. That's pretty fast...
The engine sucks air with a weight of 1 metric ton per second. Go figure!

Good to see Qantas' safety statistics with no fatal loss of a jet aircraft yet still current!

Since the Constellation was nicknamed as "prettiest three-engine aircraft", maybe the A380 is about to be called the ugliest one...

Cheers,
Markus.

I saw that Qantas has grounded the entire fleet while they investigate to failure.
