Adding Cockpit Click Sounds

Hi,
Just would like to know how easy it is to add click sounds to FSX aircraft. I seem to have missed something. I would like if possible to add sounds to the Alabeo Diamond DA40. I have download both Daniel Gauthier cockpitsounds_v2 along with Doug Dawson's sound gauge dsd_fsx_xml_sound_v437. . I have added the various lines into the VC PANEL section of the aircraft, added the cockpit sounds to the gauge folder. But I noticed that there are 2 sound gauges in the Doug Dawsons sound gauge folder, 1. dsd_fsx_xml_sound.gau and 2. dsd_fsx_xml_sound.rtf do I need to use the later one as well ? as there is no mention of this anywhere in the installation read me file. But sadley I have no click sounds. Any Help will be greatly appreciated. Regards Timm

After Post - I HAVE NOW GOT CLICK SOUNDS THROUGHOUT THE COCKPIT.

Hi Timm - the .rtf file is a rich text file document outlining the coding usage of the .gau file, so it has no bearing on the sounds playing. Make sure you have done the following:

1. Installed the CockpitSounds FOLDER directly into the gauges folder in FSX/P3D
2. Installed the dsd_fsx_xml_sound.gau FILE directly into the gauges folder in FSX/P3D
3. Copied the code lines indicated in the ReadMe_V2.txt file into the [VCockpit01] section of the plane's panel.cfg file (making sure to make a backup copy of the panel.cfg first!) -->

Example for the default C172, to be placed in the [VCockpit01] section after the rest of the gauges (make sure you comment out or delete the "<====Paste the new lines text" Comment out by placing // in front of that text if you don't want to delete it):
gauge19=DSD_FSX_XML_Sound!Sound, 0, 0, 0, 0, .\Gauges\CockpitSounds\CockpitSounds.ini <==== Paste the new lines
gauge20=CockpitSounds!KeyEvent_SND, 0, 0, 1, 0 <====

4. SAVE the changed panel.cfg file when done.

Note that you have 4 different sound options available, as detailed in the readme file in section "4 OPTIONS"

I have followed these steps and have successfully added the cockpit sounds to numerous airplanes.

Hope this helps...it really adds a nice feature!
Jim

Hi Jim,
Thanks for that info, I had another look at the lines and for some reason I had missed adding line
gauge20=CockpitSounds!KeyEvent_SND, 0, 0, 1, 0 Once added It gave me sounds through out the VC. Again thanks for you help. Regards Timm

Dan Gauthier Clicks sounds or Daniel

The instructions say:

CockpitSounds in the existing CockpitSounds folder located in your FSX\Gauges.

I have no cockpit sounds folder in the Gauges directory

The folder in the zip is labelled "gauges"

Where the heck am I to put these??

Thanks!
Gord

Hi guys

Am running P3D ver 3.2. I have added the cockpit sounds to the default baron. Everything is working fine. As soon as I switch to another plane. P3D crashes. If I remove the cockpitsounds folder and dsd_fsx_xml_sound file out of the gauges folder, all of the aircraft load fine.

Is anyone able to help me out with this? I really like the cockpit sounds but it is no use if I cannot load any other aircraft.

Many thanks for any replies.

John
