Advanced Search not working?

I didn't know exactly where to put this, but here I go.

Whenever I try to search the forums by clicking the advanced search button, or typing something into the text box and hitting search I receive a message that says

"stormtrooper271, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:

1. Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
2. If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation."

I also receive the same message when I click on the "What's New?" tab at the top of the page.
Could someone explain to me what is going on.
