National Bulgarian Roundel on Fin, Aft Fuselage and Underwings. No Upperwings markings.

36 x L-39 were delivered to Bulgaria between 1986 and 1990 for use as advanced weapons trainers.

Two third of this force is no longer operational with the BVVS, having been sold off mainly to the Usa private market.

However 12 L-39 are still current, having been upgraded in order to extend there service to another two decades.

1983-1992
As the security situation in Afghanistan worsened after the Soviet invasion, later L-39's were delivered in the standard "Russian" camouflage scheme and pressed into service in a Forward Air Control ( FAC ) role to support Soviet SU-25 Frogfoot.

These L-39's were flown and manned by Russian crews but were wearing the "Soviet Style" roundel of the "Democratic Republic Of Afghanistan" a puppet communist gouvernment installed by the Soviets at Kabul during their invasion.

Later during this invasion, these L-39's had to be equipped with modified underwing tanks to carry flare dispensers due to the arrival on the theater, of the shoulder launched Us made "Stinger" missile supplied to the Afghan Talibans by ....... the CIA.

Just for Lawman I have started this. I have more to do - work on camo etc. Lawman - do you know what goes on the wings re markings?

Gajit, that looks fantastic:applause::applause:. I'm not completely sure, but as far as I can tell the national insignia should be on the left upper wing and right lower. The belly of the aircraft should be grey.

Great - tx Lawman - if you PM me with your email I will let you test fly it once i have done some more work.
 
I don't think there's a need to "test drive" it. If you add the national insignia on the wings, I'm a happy camper and it is good to go as far as I'm concerned:ernae:.
