Howdy!

Has anyone converted the Mosquito, P-47, P-38, and the Corsair from Aeroplane heaven to CFS2?

I thought I would consult with you fella's before I spent my money.

Thanks,

Ryan

There is a CFS 2 specific P-47, and I have a CFS 2 converted Corsair, but the readme doesn't have the author's name. I think they still have their Hurricane for CFS 2 on their Freeware page as well as the neat little Grumman Skyrocket.

I really like their FS 9 P-38, but it's hard on the frames in FS 9, so it might be a frame show in CFS 2.

moonbutter2,
As Jagd, said, it is all about frame rates. AH planes look nice and fly nice in quick combat one on one. When you put a flight of 6-8 in the air against other flights of AH aircraft, the frame rates really take a hit. It is not as bad on my big PC with lots of resources, but on my laptop, I started watching a slide show, which as you know, is not conducive to staying on the 6 of a really good enemy aircraft with computer controlling it and allocating most of the computer resources for itself instead of me......

Yes...for most ppl, these models in converted form serve best as "player-only" aircraft and pinup girls for cool screenshots. In order to fly them in QC or missions, load up another nice looking, frame friendly model for yourself and your flight. Once the action starts, simply go to Alt+A+A and select one of these converted AH cover girls for yourself only and then get back to the action. That's the best way for most to deal with the non-multi LOD thing in CFS2.

I regularly fly the converted P-47's in QC action in flights of 6-8 against re-spawning enemy flights of 6-8. On my current machine, i don't suffer at all with these models in such numbers. Haven't seen much notable action in the Mossie and Lightning - can't comment there. Regarding the Corsair, haven't even bothered. A conversion is somewhat redundant for me personally due to the previous release in 2005 of that AH Corsair for CFS2 which was provided by the developers as SOH donationware. Been happy with it for so long i don't even think about converting the FS9 payware Corsairs.
