A new entry has been added to Add-Ons Library, category FSX Skins

Description: In the early 1970s this aircraft was owned by Executive Airlines, operating in the Northeastern United States. In 1972 it was sold to Frontier Airlines in Colorado, but returned to New England by 1974, operating with Air New England. In 1983 the aircraft was sold to Grand Canyon Airlines, providing aerial tours of the National Park. The aircraft was re-registered at N76GC at this time. On June 18 1986, while flying one of these tours, she collided with a helicopter, which was also providing a tour service. Both aircraft were destroyed and all on board were killed. This re-paint represents N386EX as it appeared in 1971 while operating with Executive Airlines.

Nicely done! I remember those birds well. In addition to running skeds they also hauled jumpers on the weekends.

They flew out of Peperell MA and refueled in Nashua. On a drop from 16K they could beat the jumpers down to the ground (assuming the chutes opened!). We could here and see them coming down at about 60 degrees nose down.

I worked line service in Nashua and refueled them quite often. They almost always treated us to a STOL takeoff (very light with no pax). Amazing how short they would get off and start a turn right over the T-hangars.

Thanks! I grew up in Augusta Maine, and as a wee lad my brother and I would sneak over to the approach end of runway 17 at the airport in Augusta (KAUG) and watch those blue and white DHC-6s take off and land. There was a big gravel pit off the end of 17, which provided a great vantage point, and also a good escape route when the airport security truck saw us... :icon_lol: They were the biggest planes flying in and out of that airport in those days. Great fun! I didn't know about the skydive service they provided. Cool.
