Aerosoft: Free Catalina Island scenery!

If you have ORBX Global and the freeware airports then these are interfering with the Aerosoft scenery. There will be a way to cure it.

Ahh, the freeware ORBX airports. I'll check it out. Many thanks!

Edit - that did it. Thanks Roger.

Once you've renamed the files Racartron mentioned in his post, you then need to clear out the scenery indexes folder (C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\FSX\SceneryIndexes). On rebooting FsX these files are recreated with the changes made.

I finally had a chance to install this last night and have done much flying around it today. It is by far the best representation of the island and especially the airport I have seen. My wife and I have spent considerable time on the island in the last 10 years mostly on photography trips. I also flew into KAVX in the late '70's when I still had my PPL. Recently we have flown in and out of KAVX in a friends Cessna 182. The Spanish style terminal is hard to model but this model nails it. I have walk around photo's of the real thing to prove it. The humped runway is real life. This scenery also has buildings in the city of Avalon. They are auto-gen and not accurate, but they look to mostly be in the right place. I have other photoreal scenery of the island that leaves Avalon empty. The best news is this great scenery does not drop my frame rates much at all. Can't really measure the difference. This is truly a job well done. The screen shots show my Piper PA-12 infront of the terminal and hanger respectively.

Best, Paul
