I can't find any mention of this scenery here on the SOH forums and thought I'd bring it up.

I suspect that this will marketed to those that fly the big tube liners, but it's such a lovely looking scenery package that it's also nice to fly around in the Cub, Twotter or Beaver etc.

I'll also say that it runs very, very smooth on my system, much to my surprise.

Out of control? The more detail people demand, the larger the downloads become.

On the product page it states:

This project will be included with scenery of the other Balearic Islands in a boxed released at a later date.

It's the photoreal ground that gives it this size. At 0.5m/pixel, for the whole island, it is going to be a big file size and I would even bet they reduced the detail to get it down to this size. I have single photoreal airports I have compiled that are over 500 MB.

Great shots Nick! Was following this at Aerosoft, but they kept showing the FS9 shots, so it's nice to get your impressions on it.
 
There's no getting around large file sizes where high-resolution aerial photos are involved. That's a gorgeous bit of scenery! Looks like another good destination when the weather turns to muck here and I need a getaway. :ernae:

Well, the VFR Germany series are around 14 Gig each, which is why they sell it boxed. But us poor beta testers had to download the beta versions ülus several changes. :pop4:

Even with a 2megs/second connection (16000 K) it took hours for the last version. Before that I was on a 2000 K line for the first beta. But OK, at least those covered a lot more ground. :icon_lol:

I really might just go for Ibiza though - I spent my first honeymoon there. Might be interesting to see how the place has changed... sigh
