After 9 Years

Its been 9 years since I set up my recording studio.
Here is the first demo, note it is not the final cut, just a rehearsal to get me writing again.

I am still at a loss for words, lol and could use a poet to be a part of this new project.
Help Welcomed, lol

anyway here is "Where Buffalo Roam"

Ickie, the way that squirrel is downing that brew, it's no wonder yer at a loss fer words. ;) LOL

The only poets I know are Shakespeare and Longfellow. But the only word they want used in a poem is Timbuktu. :monkies: :bump:

Hey All,

Ickie - Keep at it. I really like it and my 15 year-old heavy metal lovin son says he could teach you some double time or faster riffs to fit in there in places (he was showin me). :bump: Sigh why is it at 15 it's all about how many notes you can play and not about the right note at the right time. Anyway this song start has a really good feel to it for me.

Dang!!!!

Very nice Ickie! First rate!

I cant believe how good that is..

:applause: :medals: :applause: (with a side of... :guinness: )

EDIT: Sounds like the actual Rolling Stones... Rich man...

last night I re-wrote it with a new rift
today I will re-record it.

at 58 I am moving as fast as I can, lol

I used a Gibson Les Paul for rythem and leed,
today I will use a USA Strat and Les Paul for the leed. I will do 2 tracks for leed.

I will also dirty up the Gibson EB0 Bass.

I will make the vocals wet. (I sure wish I had more than 1 verse)

cause if you play enough of them, one of 'em just gotta be the right one! :icon_lol:

You've got a nice little home setup there Ickie....bravo! :applause:

I am a former recording studio engineer (with credits on several commercially released CDs) and I also taught Professional Sound Recording classes at College level in the UK. We will shortly be making a small move here (we live in the bottom half of a duplex but will soon have the entire house to ourselves) and that means I will finally be able to have a dedicated 'music room' for all my instruments and I hope to get into home recording too.

i recently bought a used strat and a small fender amp off of craig's list because i miss playing, and the wife's accoustic was like driving a dump truck through a slalom course. it's depressing to see how far my skills have degraded in the last 20 years. i'm starting to wonder if some of it was in my head :icon_lol:

Dang Ickie, those sound good! I gotta get my guitars back out and start warming up the fingers again. It's so darn hard during the summer months though to get any practice time in.

Some notes on your music (pun intended)

Hi Ickie,
basically fine. Very good sketches indeed! But music is more and follows what one could call 'dramatic curves'. Repititive by nature, there always should be a gradiential moment to keep the attention alive and, even better, move the interest up. Not a rule, just a hint.
This is the reason, the verse/bridge/chorus-principle has established to such a general extent. I heard through your samples, and, well, they are very monothematic. Why not put these parts into one song with a distinct structure?
Where Buffalo Roam, Sudden South and Dreams are, mentioned before, sketches. Nothing wrong with it, most music starts with right that.
Every tale (id est, something that wants to be told) must follow a dramatic curve. And the best people in the field are the ones, that are able to hide this fact, because what they tell, is done is such a sovereign way, that you can't tell the underlying mechanics.

Best regards,
Frank
