AI Helicopter?

rdaniell

SOH-CM-2013
Can anyone point me in the direction of a AI Bell UH-1 helicopter? I want to see if I can convert it using Nick Black's air file from his Apache AI helicopter.

Thanks in advance.

There was an AI Huey in an 'Australian military' package a while back. I believe the name of the package was 'ADF_AI_FS9.zip'. I am not sure where I got it; OzX website most likely.

I found one on a backup cd that I didn't remember having. It was originally made by Valdimer Zhhulskiy and modified by Holger Sandmann. I'm pretty sure that I downloaded it from Hovercontrol quite some time ago. It only had one very basic U.S. Army OD paint scheme.

Anyway, it works in FSX needing only a slight "tweak" to the rotor and tail blade discs blur. By works, I mean it takes off and lands but, like an airplane. That's why I plan to try and adapt Nick's FDE to it.

EDIT: I AM NOT LOOKING TO SPEND ANY MONEY ON AN AI HELICOPTER PROGRAM. SO PLEASE THERE IS NO NEED FOR ANYONE TO TELL ME ABOUT THAT PROGRAM. I ALREADY KNOW ABOUT IT.

I AM STILL INTERESTED IN KNOWING IF THERE ARE ANY OTHER "HUEYS" AVAILABLE.

THANK YOU.

RD -

Applying Mike McIntyre's air file, (from Nick Blacks AI Apache),
will not work,
as the behaviours are hard-coded in Nick's model.

Thanks Paul. You just saved me a lot of grief. Most especially since I'm mostly interested in a little "eye candy" only; not populating a whole helicopter mission.
I have Nick's Pavehawk installed and the only real difference between it and the other AI helicopters that I have installed is the fact that it takes off vertically.
It still has to taxi out to the active runway and back to the ramp like all the others.

One can hope, however, that Mike and Nick will get around to making a Huey. I do like to watch the Pavehawk take off once it reaches the runway.

RD,

Nick has retired from creating AI aircraft for FS9, but I am still around creating AI FDE's for various AI models.

Fortunately some other talented MAIW AI helicopter model developers have created some fine new AI Helicopter models that contain some improved takeoff animations that along with a new AI Helicopter FDE that I created take another step forward in AI helicopter takeoff, flight and landing realism.

John Young has already released his new JYAI Blackhawk and JYAI Sea King series and another outstanding new AI helicopter model by a new AI model developer will be released in the very new future. Unfortunately it isn't an AI Huey, but it is a very realistic AI helicopter model.

I have the JYAI Blackhawk series. They are what got me interested in AI helicopters again. Since my original post, I've found a few other AI helicopters. I now have them flying out of a few of my sceneries. They don't perform like the Blackhawk but once airborne they are fun to watch flying around just as much as any other type AI. I shall look forward to future AI Helicopter releases from MAIW.

Thank you.

In order to help any of you who might wish to find some AI helicopters, I searched for where I got mine. NO JOY. I'm afraid that I don't have any sort of downloaded file organization at all. Anyway based on what I'm attaching below, I'm pretty sure that I found them at Hovercontrol. Hope this helps.

From the mentioned Aussie ADF AI package, that has a FS9 and FSX version, the J. Moore HC Huey is in there. I use that and the K.Furuya models (UH-1J, B212) with the stremme motor glider airfile. It really depends on how many you want in the sim, as these are not true low-poly AI and can really drag down your framerates. There is a UH-1 on the MAIW forums WIP, no release date given. Make sure the "prop_anim_ratio=x.xx" is in your fltsim entries in order for the blades to turn.

There is a Huey UH-1C gunship in the Freeware listing at Virtavia.
It might be light enough for use as an AI. Assuming the blades move of course -- CFS2 - FS02 vintage.

There is a UH-60 included with this scenery and it works well, if that will work for you.

FSX Scenery--Portland-Hillsboro Airport (KHIO) in Oregon (OR), USA. This is a stand-alone scenery for everyone, but if you have the author's Aurora scenery (AURORA-1.ZIP) then this will be a nice addition, since the aircraft that fly out of Aurora head to Hillsboro and back. By Robert Lacy.
