I've never watched "Honey Boo-Boo", but from the commercials I've seen it should be called "Trashy Poo-Poo". I enjoyed "Flying Wild Alaska" and "Ice Pilots NWT". Seems there is plenty of drama in those shows without having to script it.

Flying Wild Alaska was pretty good, but it succumbed to the same phony nonsense. A couple of examples was when there was a general alert on GPS quality and these two pilots on their Beech 2000 are going nuts about navigational inaccuracies when the RAIM displayed on the Garmin 530 was showing excellent signal quality!

A second one was already mentioned, when the younger daughter (a total hottie to be sure about it) was flying solo and they were going nuts over the winds and yet the wind sock was showing winds right down the runway and only around 10 knots.

Finally caught a couple of episodes last night. Looks like the same type of hooey Discovery seems to be latching onto with their other shows (idjits mining for gold, Amish 'wiseguys', etc.).

The one that caught my eye was the two guys lifting the Beaver on wheel skis and trying to fly it over 10K' passes... perfectly fine way to kack a perfectly good airplane! They were lucky to make it to the Glacier... idjits!

Honestly, though... the conflicts are 'staged', and the 'immediacy' of the moment is played up for maximum television suspense and the 'what gone happen' crowd.

I have to think 90% of these repos go quietly, behind the scenes, just like others have mentioned.

Faking it is so much easier to produce - and of course so much cheaper! You can get more sex and violence in the series too if it isn't so realistic (well judging from MY life anyway)!

Edit: We have shows like that over here in the Old World too where people eat bugs on TV, fake court cases, fake family dramas etc. We do not have fake pilot shows as far as I know. Maybe I should suggest it and make a killing ...
