Airplane texture load

jojohnson9

Charter Member 2016
Some time ago I asked for help 'cause my aircraft textures were very slow to load...sometimes would not load at all, just a big bunch of grey. Can't find the original thread...so this one.
I think I have found the problem. I tried to use some FS9 gauges in FSX. The catapult and arrestor gauges (COP3) were made for FS9, but I thought I would use them in FSX. They did not work and I forgot about them. After much trial and error, I removed these gauges and now FSX is working fine. My aircraft textures are loading quickly, and my "crash to desktop" have stopped....well not completely. Some FS9 things work in FSX, but not all. If the author say FS9 only...believe it!!!

PS: How do I find my old posts?

PS: How do I find my old posts?

If you click on a users name, you get a few options and one of them is to find more posts from that user. Unfortunately, I tried to find your old posts and they may have vanished with the last forum crash, sorry. Glad you got it sorted out though!

COP 3 is for FSX works fine for me but use the FSX inbuilt Cat and trap now I can fix the planes to use it.

jojohnson9, these are 2 planes I have done one trike gear and 1 taildragger, what aircraft are you wanting to add carrier capability too ? please do'nt list dozens

How do you add cat and trap to airplanes?

For Steve Beeny's Seahawk F1
Add this line to the light section between light 5 and //light6 with the lights switched on you should have a green light just above the deck just behind the nose wheel this is the cat hookup point, it is not essential and you can leave that line out just get the nosewheel in the hookup box, have'nt got a clue where they are on any carriers other than ARK Royal

light.6 = 3, 11.13, 0, -4.11, fx_navgre // launch lug
Delete the existing [TailHook] section completely then copy paste this new one along with [launch_assistance] in its place,

[TailHook]
tailhook_length = 4.0
tailhook_position = -19.34, 0, -0.03
cable_force_adjust = 4.5

[launch_assistance]
launch_bar_pivot =6.433, 0.0, -2.522
launch_bar_lug = 11.13, 0, -4.61

For Aeroplane Heaven Seafire do the same, the cat hookup is somewher under the prop so the light is helpfull here to get the cat hookup

For AH Seafire LIII

light.2 = 3, 10.423, 0.0, -7.42, fx_navgre //launch_bar_lug
[TailHook]
tailhook_length=4.3
tailhook_position=-18.0, 0, 0
cable_force_adjust=4.0
[launch_assistance]
launch_bar_pivot = 5.433, 0.0, -2.522
launch_bar_lug = 10.423, 0.0, -7.42

Copy pasting these settings from another plane is easy but it rarely works properly if the gear settings give to much bounce and you bounce over the wires without catching and if the cable force adjust is to low if you are lucky it will take a good distance to stop or it will break the cable.
Taildraggers are the awkward ones if the tailhook is not right you will get noseover when you catch the wire.

Dino's T45 Goshawk and his latest offering has both tailhook and launch assistance in the model so nothing to do there

Takes time and patience to get it right.

Thanks, Rich. I have these two planes and will add the settings to them. I will use your settings and others to teach myself how to do these additions. If I mess it up I'll get back to you for more help.

jojohnson9, you are my beta tester so to speak, can you please let me know how you get on with those 2
