That nose art was originally on a B-1B, acft 5059 with the Georgia ANG. They made us paint over it, and since then it's appeared on other B-1s and B-52s. None have been half as good as the original. The original was painted by Dru Blair, so you can imagine.

Nice to see to some nice pictures of the Snowbirds. Too bad that Hawk One is going south of the border for any of the shows with the Snowbirds. In case you're wondering, Hawk One is a restored F-86 in the Colours of the Golden Hawks, the RCAF display team that flew from 1959 to 1963. This was done to celebrate the 100th anniversary of powered flight in Canada. The Hawk One website is http://www.hawkone.ca/pages_E/hawkone_E.html. I included a video of Hawk One, flying with Snowbirds.

We have the Blues and Patty Wagstaff plus others here at the MCAS Beaufort Show this weekend, luckily I got an invite from the MAW Commander to come out on the day before the Show is open to the public to watch the dress rehersal. Same program as Sat and Sunday except many of the static displays won't arrive until later Friday and not necessarily be accessable for viewing up close and personal. No matter, I would rather attend with 2000 others than with 75,000 to 90,000 (estimate for each day). Bleacher seats will be easy to get , vendors will be there, and all of the rest of the show will go on without the press of a crowd. Hopefully, I will get some pix as good as I have seen on here tonight, I find it awfully hard to take photos and videos at an airshow, videos work a bit better for me, but I am lousy at framing a 450 kt jet, especially with a telephoto (400 mm on a digi SLR). Very lousy. Hopefully, a good safe show, high sky and temps less than the 92 deg that we had today.

i have found that a 210mm lens works best for me...you have to get purty close though.

also shoot at high resolution and use a fast shutter speed....then you can crop if you dont get the subject exactly centered..

these were all cropped and centered from the originals..

Yeah, those are superb airshow pix, I got a few 2 years ago at Oshkosh that were worth printing and at the last MCAS Beufort Show I got decent video, albeit a bit overexposed (it was really bright ). If my pix are not good at the Dress Rehersal, I can always come back on one of the regular days and try it again.
