• There seems to be an uptick in Political comments in recent months. Those of us who are long time members of the site know that Political and Religious content has been banned for years. Nothing has changed. Please leave all political and religious comments out of the forums.

If you recently joined the forums you were not presented with this restriction in the terms of service. This was due to a conversion error when we went from vBulletin to Xenforo. We have updated our terms of service to reflect these corrections.

Please note any post refering to a politician will be considered political even if it is intended to be humor. Our experience is these topics have a way of dividing the forums and causing deep resentment among members. It is a poison to the community. We appreciate compliance with the rules.

Akemi's aircraft production salvage

I think you will have to do it the hard way. In note pad, if you use [find next] and look for all of the "Break,". Then it will go faster.

I do think Captain Kurt and company are doing or have done some updates. So maybe that might be something to look into.

Thats all I've got.

...IIRC wasn't there someone here who was friends with Akemi, and if I read it right, was also from his home country. Is it possible the family might know him and allow him to take the files? Just a thought.

ADDENDUM: Found it is ignacci who originally posted the sad news in the "R.I.P Akemi" forum post.
Maybe present the possibilty for him to explore that in the proper custom of his country.

Hello, friends.

I still haven't had any response from his family about allowing us to salvage his work.

According to the message on the top of his website, which is posted by his daughter,
no one amongst his family is interested in flightsims.
It seems that they know Akemi had a website but don't know what he had been doing.
My be my phrases, asking permission to salvage his jobs, were too unclear for them...

I'm going to ask them again, with very clear words, that we would like to keep copies
of his jobs.

Anyway, I think we should prepare a "tribute to Akemi", could be a website or a section
here in SOH.

Daisuke,
Hopefully this can be the start of the Tribute you have in mind.

You will have to start at the begining to see who helped.

Till Later,

I was thinking , a piece of scenery , a tribute piece , a lake side retreat , dock and cottage , flowered garden , a monumet to an artist , that we could float plane into , to pay our respects , or cruise by for a wing waggle salute ,

Sorry i didn't not know of this sooner. As i do work in Japan now and have been training in making anime and manga art for some years, i can help with translations possibly.

here is the contents of the notice posted by his daughter on his home page and "factory":

We will always remember Lieutenant HaMamoru-san, and his beloved airplane factory. Thank you for visiting.

He had been in failing health for some time, he passed away after fourteen days of illness at the end of October. We should have placed a notice immediately but were delayed, please accept our apologies.

We are proud to honour the respect for his life time of work and for your kindness to him here.

My father loved the fighter plane most of all. He would lecture to me about it and the designs from a candy model that I bought and brought to his hospital room.

Since all of our family other than Father were women who were not that interested in this I became my father's confidant in this love of his. I am sure he would be happy for you to share the information here for everyone and it would make him very happy.

Thank you, thank you very much.

We will be closing this site in about six months.

Daughter of HaMamoru lieutenant December 29, 2013

from the syntax it is hard to know if she means six months from his passing or from her posting, so not sure how long the site will actually be open. I am also not an expert in the translation but believe that this conveys the spirit of her posting. It was very nice of her to do this for us. It is a rare sign of respect for us that she would share such private information and convey the family's respect and regard to us for our respect for her father.

So I believe he would actually have loved to have his models preserved with respect and honour as he loved making and sharing them. But actual specific permission should be possible to obtain from her if you keep the communication simple, most modern Japanese speak and can read english, as it is widely taught in schools, tho it may not be easy. Sadly Google translator often is very poor working with Japanese but I will help if i can...depending on work and if we have contact info for her and the family. We may be able to obtain an image of his family grave marker as that is the custom in most traditional families and I believe he was from that. That would further honour him in the correct way.

I am so sorry Akemi-san is gone. He was a fine man.
