Albatros C.III

While Captain Kurt is already nearly a dozen aircraft ahead, I just manged to finish the first repaint for one of them.

It's the Austrian-Hungarian Albatros D.III Oeffag flown by the CO of Flik 51/J Oblt.i.d.Res. Benno Fiala Ritter von Fernbrugg, who, with 28 kills, became the third most successful LFT pilot. Although it had at least two other pilots.

The screenshots are FS9, but the testures will work in CFS2 as well.

Cheers,
Huub

Lovely modelling and your usual attention to detail. Thanks Kurt!

I can only think of 4 Great War aircraft of significance missing from the WWI hangar. You have covered a lot of ground.:applause::applause:

Captain Kurt,

Many thanks for all of your continued efforts on bringing WWI to life! :santahat:

Thanks for the compliments all.

Mike, I'm curious - what are the 4 aircraft?

Well, limiting this to aircraft which made a significant contribution, I think top of my list would be the Curtiss H-16 Flying Boat, then the Short Bomber ( there are a few good 3 view scale drawings), the Farman F40bis type 60 and the last plane would be a toss up between the Junkers J.1 and the AEG J.1 :wavey:

Many thanks once more Kurt for this important plane, your production is very impressive, in quality as well as in quantity. :applause:

I began to work on the Curtiss H16, the result won't be for to-morrow, badly the time I can spend for the sim is limited, but I would be happy to finalise it, starting from a CFS1 model from Stephan Scholz. The actual step is for the liberty engines.

As to follow, cheers

Martin, that looks great. I'll look forward to it.

Interesting list Mike. By the Short, do you mean the type 184? Baldy did the sea plane version I think. The Junkers is on my list but way down on it.

With that criteria, I would think the Caproni Ca.3, HP 0/400, and Voisin III would be important too.

My possibilities list right now is the Pflaz DXII, Morane Saulnier Type L, Brandenberg D.I Starstrutter, Bristol F.2b, Breguet 14, Vickers F.5b Gunbus, Avro 504, Albatros C.I, Voisin III, C.V, and LVG C.VI. The first 2 are definite and under construction.

The Short Bomber was a development of the 184 sea plane. Still with a crew of 2 but it had a much greater wing span to increase lift and to compensate for the longer fuselage/ internal bomb load. It was a dedicated level bomber which only served with the RNAS. There are a few sources for information. There is a chapter in the book on Short Aircraft ( happy to copy it and email it to you), a good 3 view plan in the Wikipedia page on the Short Bomber and a couple of sets of plans in the Blueprints Site under Aircraft / WWI / British.

I don't know how I missed them, but the Handley Pages (O\100 and 0\400) bombers are in need of replacement/ upgrade. There is an old model of the 0\400 which could do with either an upgrade or replacement.
