Nice combination - its time we had good vc version of the Wessex.

Despite loving the look of this scenery, I was put off by the size of the DL. There is no way I could warrant 1 gig of HD space for such a small island either.

Keep in mind that this is a trend that will continue since better images will require it, the good news is that hard disks are so cheap that you should get the largest you can, then space will not matter...................

I wonder how the FSX sceneries will look like in ... 2012 for example (I don't belive that the next FS will appear in the next few years). Will the 50cm/pix or even less become standard ? Will the products be burned on the Blue Ray discs because of the data size ?

The way scenery is done today will probably evolve into something like "parallel executables" where you will see "real motion within the scenery itself" freeing host programs to do their own thing thus giving the scenery its own action.....I hope to see "animated" scenery which will have people walking in airports, cars moving about and blowing their horns real sounds within itself (wind, water etc..), characters talking to the pilots, airport sounds and much action as in real life.....scenery has come a long way but the best of it has still to come......scenery right now could be more fun by linking it to a corresponding Web Page that will give it sounds for instance......I am doing a little experiment on this and hope to have a "scenery-adventure webpage" which will be used by the pilot during his flight around it.....but it will be necessary for the FSX user to have a direct link from FSX to the page, this is available now....:kilroy:

Personally i'd get a 2TB harddrive if i had to!
I never settle for anything less than the absolute highest detail scenery i can possibly find!

Hows the performance on Alderney?

Great, I have had no drop in FPS, this is great technology.....

It is an island, so there is less autogen around and finally, better fps. If the objects are fsx native it is even better. The art is to model smartly - without too much detail, as you can achieve great effect with a good texturing only.

The VC works fine......

Yup. That Wessex is one of the ports that stays on my FSX installation through thick and thin. :engel016:

Alderney is definitely on my "when I win the lottery" list, but I can't justify it right now, otherwise. Seriously wish I could. :(
