Aliasing Sounds in MSFS 2020?

Is this even possible? I have an airplane with an awful sound pack and I have a sound pack from another airplane that would be a big improvement. In FSX it was a simple process but judging from the way sound files are made in MSFS it would appear it is not that simple if not impossible. Any ideas?
 
Yes it is possible.
Open your aircraft.CFG, find the line "Sound=" and add the path for your favorite sound.
The difficulty is that all MSFS is a "virtual disk", so if you follow this example:
Sound = "\..\..\"the_name_of_your_aircraft_as_defined_in_the_Community_folder"\sound"

you should change the sound of your aircraft.
 
It doesn't always work as well as it did in "the good ole days." These new WWise packages include more than just engine sounds, so some sounds might get triggered when you don't want them too, while others will remain silent. Luckily, you can always just change it back.. Just be sure to make a backup of your original file before editing.

True. I tried an early attempt but only had external sound, the cockpit sound was off. I tried Lagaffe's using both the name of the aircraft file folder (no Joy), then using the aircraft name in the [Title] line of the config file (also no joy) so it's not important enough to pursue. The original sound is ok but doesn't really fit the actual sound of the RW engine.
 
I bought the Ants Drifter and here is where I changed the aircraft.cfg in the Aerolite.

[FLTSIM.1]
Title="Aerolite 103 Green"
Model=""
Panel=""
Sound="\..\..\antsairplanes-drifter-a-582\sound"
Texture="green"
KB_Checklists=""
KB_Reference=""
description="Aerolite 103 Ultralight"

This had to be done for each paint scheme listed in the aircraft.cfg
 
Excellent. . .kinda! It did give me a nice engine sound more befitting an Ultralight, however when sitting in the seat the sound feels as though you're in a enclosed cockpit rather that right in front of the engine. Still it is better than what came with the model. Thanks again!
