Allen's FM-2: did anyone notice this?

A good day to everybody! :wavey:

The other day I was panning the view around Allen's FM-2 Wildcat when I saw something strange.

The folding portions of the landing gear "doors" are visible when seen from the front, then they become progressively more invisible as one proceeds towards the tail of the aircraft. From the side they look only outlined.

Watching the aircraft from the back they are gone completely.

Attached below 4 shots showing the pan sequence.

It just occurred me I did not think to check the stock F4F-4, from which Allen's FM-2 derives, to see if it's a visual problem carried over in the new model.

Did anyone notice this?

Cheers!

It's not my fault. MS did the modeling the way. The inside of the gear doors are missing the triangle shape.

Kelti,

After getting the heads up from you the other day, I took a look and can't believe I missed that. Must not have been paying attention. Must be one of those quirks that pop up occasionally. As an old friend was fond of saying, "Can't see it from my house."

I knew it!

Hi Allen,

that's exactly what occurred me as I was writing this post. It's carried over from the stock Wildcat and there's nothing you can do about it.
In fact, I did not say it was your fault.

So much with it, then. Yesterday I was busy preparing Yashico's model packs for the preservation drive, I did not check the stock OH F4F-4. I take your word for it, surely the problem is there, too.

It's incredible it took me 14 years to notice it! :stupid:.....:very_drunk:

Cheers!

Allen,
If you are going to fix the gear doors, can I ask a small favor? The gun muzzles did not extend past the leading edge of the wings. Maybe while you're in there you can "snip" off the gun barrels. No big deal if you don't. it would just make it look more "authentic". Thanks in advance for your consideration.

Allen,
That was amazingly fast. Thank you for your diligence in taking care of this so promptly. I'm sure all, and Kelti, will be very pleased with the results. Again, thank you.

WOW, ALLEN! :applause: :applause:

"That was amazingly fast."
to say the least!!

I am taking back immediately what I wrote above: "It's carried over from the stock Wildcat and there's nothing you can do about it."

Allen, I swear I'll never say again "there's nothing you can do about it"! :adoration:

Cheers!

I had the model in gMax so I can fix just about any thing. The limit is my skills and or sometimes the game it self.

Hi Guys,

I looked and the stock F4F-4 has the problem. On the F4F-3 I must have fixed it but I don't remember.
I will see if I can find the sca files and fix the OH stocker.

Regards,
B24Guy

Your right F4F-3 is fixed OH F4F-4 is still missing the triange on the doors. Its no big deal over all.
