Alpha Boston III (A-20A) conversion

SOH-CM-2023
I recently converted the Alpha Boston III FS9, from the Warbirds Library (FS2004). However, This is also a conversion of the original, having / or D open the bay doors. The Mdl would not convert to 2002, but only into CFS2. I used the original Cfs2 air and DP files from the original alpha Boston III Cfs2 file. Also the aircraft cfg file. However, the gears do not tough the ground and not fully extended when static. Upon take-off the gear jitterbugs then extends properly as I leave the ground. When the gear is retracted. the edge of the main gear(tires) stick up through the top of the wings.

Does it involve the contact points, static height, or in the mdl file.

Once in flight everything, including the bay doors work fine.

Could some one help me with this? I had a similar problem converting the C-46.

Why didn't you just grab the CFS2 version? Just about all of the old Alpha Sim aircraft are at http://www.virtavia.com/Freeware/ The CFS2 version is ALPHA_Boston_MkIII_CFS2.zip

As for why your gear is messed up. FS2002/2004 use a different settingup for landing gear animations (and just about any thing that the user animates). You need to use MDLC/MK_MDLC t/ Fix model aimations.

If you using MK_MDLC you can check the convert to CFS2 and Fix model aimations and MK_MDLC will do both.

I'm sure there was a CFS2 version of the Alpha Boston III. Captain Kurt did the CFS2 A-20A, B and C based upon it IIRC.

Yes I put a link to it in my first post also some more info...

I have all the Alpha sim aircraft including the Boston III. It is the only Alpha bomber that uses the tailhook keys for bay doors, which is shift+H, not Shift+G. All of the rest, including the A-20G use the spoiler key. The conversion I found in Warbirds, coverts to the spoiler key for bay doors. I am used to the spoiler key operating the bay doors, and prefer it.

I used mdlc to convert the mdl file. When I did the mdlc/t, It appeared as a Microsoft Access error. I am using a windows7 64bit computer, and must transfer MCLC info from my old WindowsXP. So sometimes things are jumbled in translation. Is there anyway I can get a workable MDT file?

I like Captain Kirks A-20s, However, the bomb doors would not work for me until I replaced the Mdl file with the original alpha Boston file.

If you using Win7 you must be using some kind of emulator/virtual machine...

I will convert the model as I still use XP. I'm attaching it below.

Thanks Allen

It works fine. I think the problem is something my wife put on her computer (XP). However it could be the version of Mdlc.

Some times somthing with MDLC just quits and best to delete it and drop in a new copy.

I use the for my conversions. I have to use it a lot as I build aircraft using the FS2004 SDK for gMax. I use Mk_Mdl_Ver 2.0 http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/local_links.php?catid=49&linkid=2243

This has a nice windows interfaces. It work fine on XP but for Win7 it is uselss as main MDLC.exe has to be ran on 32 bit system so for Win7 you have to run MDLC.exe with some kind of emulator/virtual machine and do all of the work by command line.
