Hey, looks great !... Unfortunatly I don't have the time to master every aspect of what should be a good conversion.. I admit... so don't hold back on improvements like that.. good work sir..:salute:

I would really like to see your Alpha PBY-5 conversion. Like BlackBeemer, there should be no objection to you uploading it, since it is now freeware. I am interested in your water fx for these aircraft. I did modify the Blackcat textures, like you did, but I am working on some small adjustments. My modified panel looks alot like yours. Great work!

Here are the Sim Outhouse rules for uploading...

If you can't find any information in the archive that states that the files are copyrighted or restricted by the owner then you can upload them here. If you have the original authors name you should contact the author via Email before you alter, add-to or use the file in another add-on and upload it. If permission is requested by the owner in a readme file then you need to ask permission before you include or alter the file and upload it as a add-on here. Basically use common sense and follow copyright laws and get permission where it is asked is all we require. Please remember to give credit where it is due and don't forget the rights of the original author.


Any user can upload a file. Go to Addon-Ons Libary at the top of any page. Once there look for UPLOAD Add-Ons. Fill out the needed info and your done. You will have to break every thing down into its own upload or what I would is follow the Sim Outhouse rules for uploading than if it is okay by all copyright holder ask Blackbeemer if he/she would update the already uploaded PBY-5A file to add all of you thing to the alreay uploaded PBY-5A.

I posted my CFS2 conversion of the ALPHA PBY-5 Black Cat and the update skins, dp, airfile... for the Blackbeemer beautifull conversion
The panel of the PBY-5 fits perfectly with the PBY-5A

I hope the uploads are OK for being approved by SOH Librerian Rami. If not, please tell me wat I have to do for

I tried to upload my conversions but I am not sure it worked.
May be I mixed up in the uploading...

If so, can someone explain me how to fill up the uploading page ...
 
uploading problems

I tried again to day to upload my conversion of PBY5 and my update for Blackbeemer PBY5-A Alpha conversion, but nthing on the upload page tells me if the upload goes well....

It looks good. How hard is it to do a paint job on this - I'm almost tempted to try a RNZAF paint job or 2 on this bird. (if the wife will spare me time from doing the vast number of building jobs that need doing around the place.....)

No, it's not so hard, you have tweak the skins textures to get a "blue base" set, with (or without) white hull and bottom wings dépending of what type of RNZAF PBY5 you want to paint. Most of RNZAF PBY where PBY5's versions, provided by USA, and had the overall blue-grey paint of the US Navy, with a XX-# yellow number paint on there sides+the RNZAF insignas on their sides and upper and bottom wings.

If you want to gain time, I can upload a set of "all blue-grey" and "blue-grey and white" base textures for the Alpha PBY5 (model1).

This set can be used for the PBY5-A model converted by Blacbeemer, but in that case you will have to replace the names of the texturethis way :
PBY_NavyYellow_XXXXX_t.bmp >> PBY_USBlack_XXXXX.bmp
 
Please, what are the differences in the converted PBY-5 models "NY" and "BC" beside the renamed textures?

They both look the same from visual aspects?

The NY model is the alpha pby5,usn_early.mdl conversion from the Alpha PBY-5 original. The BC model is the blackcat conversion by blackbeemer. Using the original Alpha conversion and BeePee's wonderful works, I have added the early US version using the NY model. By renaming the textures to USBlack in Beepee's PBY5A you can add gear to the PBY5 making them true amphibians.

If you use with the blackcat model other textures than the original clackcat textures, you get problems of mapping in the front edges of the main wings.
I converted both blackcat model and navy yellow model.1 from original Alpha 2004 models. When I tried to make new skins for the PBY5, I had always theeses problems using blackcat model (with renamed blackcat textures). It is why I made my new trexture KNIL and adapted the existing RAF, based on the model.1 (navyyellow...named textures) The only problem in this cas is that the propellers are blugrey and not black.

Since, I have finished a Navy 1942 PBY5 Cat, and I am finishing a RNZAF Cat (as SPman asked for this skin)
